I agree with that too.. Nurses shoudl not be allowed to have enhancements...
When i went in to have my wisdom teeth out I had to take all mine off.. shower in special soap etc... now a days you can leave your nails on and bath at home! nurses with long nails...

Some child care centres here do not allow nails while others like my childs centre keep me in business.. I do 4 out of the 6 girls there.. funny how things change and some make up their own rules..
Sorry a bit off topic but had to agree with the above

I use the pink soap too in my salon. It's clorahexidine 4%, I haven't got any issues with my nails lifting.

However, I don't use it often because it is so drying. I only use it if I feel really dirty, otherwise I use my regular hand soap.

The hospitals may also use a higher percentage than what I use, so could be a combination of these two factors.

I have been thinking about this and I think that any hand soap or detergent could have a drying effect on acrylic, nails and skin if used often enough without replacing the lost moisture.

So possibly the difference is whether the client is replenishing lost moisture and the frequency of use. If you think about it, if you only use this hand wash say once or twice a day, this isn't the same as using it say a dozen times in a day followed by the anti bac gels they have to use every time they enter/leave a ward and treat each individual patient.

I'm now not convinced that this is the reason my sister has lifting, it's either my prep or she's not looking after them as well as she should. If she were protecting her hands and replenishing lost moisture from washing through oil and cream, I don't think we'd be having this problem. The fact that someone has nurses who are clients and they don't have the problem proves that to me.

Also.. just wondering how nurses get away with having enhancements. Didn't think they'd be allowed.

nurses shouldnt be having enhancements should they? because if they do lift they risk harbouring bacteria. Maybe it should be brought into out sode of practice / ethics that we shouldnt treat nurses, afterall, we would be the first to moan if we were directly affected by a nurse that added to our illness.

Here in Montreal, at restaurants & clinics/hospitals; I've noticed it all depends on who your boss is. But I do think that there is law of some sort for cooks & doctors and nurses (but not the secretarial staff).
BUT... my observation has been that those that get their nails done are much more 'hygiene' conscientious than some other's I know. I'd prefer a nurse with nails over one without any day.

Sorry girls I am going to throw a spaner in the works...... I use that pink alcohol rub in my salon... shock horror.. I have a nurse client and she brings me a bottle every now and then.. I have no problem with it and I even use it to clean down my nail table between clients..
I will have to pay more attention to see if any of my other "hospital" clients have lifting issues as I don;t think they do.. surely i would remember...
hmmmm something to keep an eye on.
thanks
Mel

It's not a 'rub'. It's a soap that's for hands. It makes 'bubbles'. Pink liquid soap, and very runny. It's in all the bathrooms. The same one (or at least looks like it and smells like it) is also found in gas stations and public restrooms elsewhere.
Mind you, let's keep in mind that what's on your side of the pond may not be the same that's here. I just thought I'd share my observation. And since my client has been with me 2yrs and is always very truthful (confesses when she slides on the oil, and doesn't wear her gloves) and she must be using her oil as faithfully as she says because she buys it more often than my average client, I have to conclude that since the soap was the 'only' thing that changed in 2yrs, it has to be the culprit. Also since she didn't use it on holidays and everytime she is on holiday, she gets no lift.
