Hi :D
I don't think iv introduced myself on the forum yet,
My names chloe :)
I have an interview for a hairdressing apprenticeship on thursday, and I really just wanted to ask anyone here who has been to an interview for a hairdressing apprenticeship before could tell me what to except really?
Like, what kind of questions I can expect to be asked? What should I ask them?
Thanks a lot in advance :)

You can expect forthe first few months to make tea and coffee, shampoo and clean up, glam I know haha, but seriously, even though it dosent sound great it's such a great experience as you will learn by watching.

Be prepared for my favourite question... "why should I employ you over the others iv interviewed"

I give them 10 seconds to answer before the question is crossed. It's a toughie as you need to sell everything. Are you doing level 1 or 2 or 3? Sell confidence, knowledge of hair, if your on iPhone or iPad get the wella app, it's basic, but will give you something to sell yourself on knowing some of the hair structure. Be pro active. Research the salon and their client base show you are motivated.

Another you may have is "where will you be in 1, 3 and 5 years time"
Dont expect miracles in this time, be realistic, if this is a level 1 placement don't expect to be senior stylist in 5 years! I'd probably say 5 years in total to get to the end of level 3, with a year each for 1 and 2 then a gap year to practice and perfect what you learned in them 2 years, then go to level 3 which is 2 years alone.
But sell your ambition again, you want to be doing add on courses? Barbering? Extensions? It all counts.
And most important, be confident, friendly and talk don't mumble. Remember the first 30 seconds are where you make a lasting impression, introduce yourself, smile, shake hands and if passing other stylists or clients smile at them too, this might work in advantage when the manager /owner speaks to the staff about the interviewees xoxo

and research the salon find out everything y
how you would get there what services do they do if they specialise in anything etc x
