Im increasingly concerned with this problem as ive seen and starting to see new clients who suffer from this....

Im not really clued up on the causes....does any body know what really causes it,and why more and more younger people are starting to get this??:irked:

I always tell clients to wear an spf, moisturise twice a day,not to wash with very hot water,as it will excaserbate the situation.

Im at a loss though in giving a thorough explanation as to why its been caused other than the capillaries that have dilated, and causing the redness.
A description of it using A and P would be helpful????:green:

Don't know if this helps, but this is what i know:
There is no single known cause of rosacea, but it is predominant in women, usually between the ages of 30 -50, and once they have it, its there to stay (although the appearance can be bettered).
Once rosacea appears, anything which aggravates the cappilaries can worsen it, such as smoking, alcohol, spicy foods, hot environments, some medications, harsh products and prob more! It is indeed the dilation of the cappilaries near the surface of the skin, which stay dilated. Some people also have a predispostion to this conditon.
Oxygen facials, some skincare products and laser treatments are said to be helpful in this condition. xx

What do you all think would be the best way to improve the appearance of roseacea on a clients skin?

The key is the homecare advice, as its how the client looks after theyre skin 24/7 that is the main factor (ie alcohol, smoking etc etc). If your product brand has a selection for rosacea this is a good start, some products contain ingrediants which help to strengthen the capillaries too (i know dermalogica do, but at the mo i cant think- is it horsetail? prob making it up:confused:)i know that collins also sell such products -one called dermo calm(i think) that is said to be really good.
If it is a major concern then maybe the laser option is the way to go- i think there may also be a kind of chemical peel, this may flush them out.

When you say chemical peel April is this a TCA peel done by dermatologists ?

Or is this with a "salon grade formula,i.e under 35 %??

Sorry to pick your brains April ,but you have an uncanny way of explaining things so simplictically:green::hug:

So,it is not a myth thats smoking, spicy foods, can make it worse...thanks for that.

i have to say i'm not entirely sure. there is alot of conflicting advice as glycolic acids, ahas etc can aggravate, with many only working very superficially, but some dermatologists are recommending these, along with TCAs as they work much deeper. If I had a client who thought they had rosacea i would recommend them to see a skin specialist, as there are also topical and oral medications available. Sorry i am not of more help

I've just recently done class where we talked alot about rosacea. They said that enzyme exfolliation was the must benefitial exfolliation for rosacea & that other methods can aggrivate the condition.

My mum has rosacea, she controls it with medication and topical creams from the doctors. As well as being red across the nose and cheeks she also sometimes gets pustules and in extreme cases it can completely distort the shape of the nose which would require surgery to correct. Thats all I can remember from the info the doc gave her when she first got diagnosed.
