He sits on Pistonheads for most of the weekend! I ultimately want a Pagani Zonda!

I would either have a sexy shaped car like the one I have, or a car just like Columbo's

I love Columbo. And I love his car. And I had some tears when he died recently.

Its the cars in the middle of those extremes that I am not so bothered about.

Love Columbo; love knowing the end at the beginning. Peter Falk RIP

I have the box set of his dvds but I still record the films which are on most weekends and I have watched them all at least 20 times each.

I love him .. but in a different way to Axl lol

On a funnier note I was in town yesterday & on the way out of the car park a new red ferarri was going in the guy was mortified though at the barrier when everyone admiring his lovely car saw that he was unable to put the window down to get his ticket from the machine! Poor guy all that money & the windows don't work :gutted: hehe

Furthermore to prove exactly how not a car badge snob I am, I can tell you all that I drive a Nissan Micra :), which I got because it is both cheap and reliable.

It reminds me of a friend I have who is a successful writer. She lives in a 17th century coach house in wiltshire which is full of great original art. She drives a crappy car and has a twentieth century television that isnt widescreen and doesnt sit on the wall. She doesnt have tonnes of white goods, rolex watches or any other status symbols. That being said she is sparkling company, highly intelligent and wickedly funny.

If I had a dinner party and had to chose as a guest between someone who obsesses over their "stuff" and how much more important it makes them than others as opposed to someone with depth and personality. I think I would know who I would chose.

Perhaps we should have a thread that discusses the difference between people with "labels" and people with class.

Why don't you start that thread off.

I'll be happy to be the first poster or maybe you could reconsider how that comes across to the rest of us.

Share the love, its so much easier.

I knew there was a reason I loved you two. I'm a HUGE Columbo fan. I, too, have the boxed DVD set. "Just one more thing...."

I never really thought of myself as a car snob. Being in the deep south, I've driven pick up trucks forever. I love pick ups. HOWEVER, when my husband bought me a Hummer H2 for my 45th birthday....candy apple red, sunroof, dvd player w/video monitors in the head rest, all chromed out...I must admit, there is a completely different feel.

I normally beebop around town in my blazin' blue Toyota Yaris. But of course, it has limo tint and fat tires and rims, but still, when I get in that Hummer and roll...Aaaaaah. Awesome.

I'm not a car badge snob as I can't afford to be but my OH is a brand ambassador, driving his 14th Audi.

I have a vauxhall corsa which I bought when I sold my business as it was an end of lease car. Having had a near death RTA on the M25 last year driving is no longer a pleasure, more of a chore.

Absolutely!!!

You shouldn't have been made to feel that you had to edit your post in the first place though my lovely.

Well said, as always, Jacqui. We work so that we can have nice things. My hubby very well could have bought me something else but he bought me something nice. Why? Because we work damn hard and we deserve it. I'm not a snob but I appreciate nice things.

There is jest in the OP's title. Take it as that and get off your high horse.

I was also really offended by tireeteam's post.

It implied that having a nice car is somehow crass.

We don't need that sort of attitude on the boards right now and I am sad for the OP that her harmless lighthearted thread has been tarnished.

So how can we get it back on track ... ZoZo? you're the one who's brain has been working overtime these last couple of days!!! lol

Jacqui xx

Well maybe what we all should have done is ignored it. Easier said than done though!

I think I can do it.

Dear Salon Geek member who tarnished this otherwise joyous thread,

The OP's post was dripping with jest and we were all reveling in and enjoying it, understanding each other's input and points of view...dare I say, having fun. Though you tried to derail us, we are back on track and will continue on regardless of your more or less having called the rest of us classless.

In future, if you don't have anything nice to say, please don't post.

Thank you.

Well, I have just had a little rant on fb, lol

How dare you post a funny thread for our enjoyment? I shall never forgive you. Where's the G** Damn red button?!

So Tammie (gr8nailz), has your Hummer got satellite tv, Swarovski studded seats and a butler standing by ready to serve you champagne after you have given alms to the poor street urchins on the streets of Florida?
