Hi Geeks,
I am in desperate need of some help and guidance...
I qualified in Salon Services UV Gel Enhancements in October last year and have seen been out in the big wide mobile nail technician world...
I absolutely love doing nails, but now I am getting slightly disheartened, and here's why...
I do a full set of nail enhancements for clients and they re-book for rebalances every fortnight, which I go and do and seem to do well (no lifting etc), however after about every 4 appointments (so say 8 weeks) clients start losing random nails, it starts with just one or two, but then the following fortnight it's more, one client lost 4 and another 3 (subsequently they have since cancelled all future appointments) ...I always do the same routine every time and have really focused on my prep and apex work as I know those are key to strong lasting enhancements...I am at a total loss as to why the nails are coming off and starting to get upset at losing the clients also as I really want this to work out for me...It has been a passion for so long and up until only now something I have been able to start...Any advice would be very much appreciated...Thank You xxx

I'm not experienced enough to help but didn't want to read and run. I know someone will have the right answer

I dont do enhancements yet so won't really be much help, but are you sure all cuticle is removed? Do you dehydrate the nail plate every time?
I don't want to insult you I'm just trying to think of a reason?

I do hun, I do the same thing every time, the same prep as if I were putting enhancements on for the first time, I really don't get were I'm going wrong xxx

One thing that clients do is they become complacent when they have worn nail enhancements for months. They take advantage, take them for granted and start to abuse them.

Another thing is that lower end products age, go brittle, start to break and when one goes clients start to pick the rest and get disheartened. With respect, the product you are using is a standard generic product ... Nothing cutting edge or high end about it. Better products last longer for clients and do not deteriorate anything like as quickly.

If you are good at what you do ... Then buy what you deserve, which is a better line of products. I won't say which one, as I'm sure you know.

Geeg!!!
I was hoping you would try to help me!!!
Thank you, you have restored my faith in the thought that it maybe wasn't something I was doing??? do you really think it could be down to the product??? If so I'll be on the 1st conversion course...
I've also read all your tutorials and followed them to the letter, I have them more informative then my actual course xxx

Why would you think it is something you are doing? Are you doing something different to that which you usually do! Do your clients not do well and then .. Bam ... Things start to self destruct?

There comes a time in the life of every GOOD nail technician when they deserve to work with the best and ..... The "cream always rises to the top" they say .... And they are right. If you're good, why use a product that lets you down?

Do you honestly know of any top nail tech in the world that uses the brand you are using from the local beauty wholesaler??

Time to move on my friend and start yourself off as a serious contender in this nail world. Some do it sooner, some do it later, but in the end, the best DO IT! X. If you believe in you ... Then use the best?

Thank you for your very kind remarks. I'm so happy if I have helped.

It's definitely not the same for all types ... Thank god ... How many can afford that? Plus it is not at all necessary with high end, cutting edge products like Retention+ from CND. Most of our clients get a new set once a year just because they want to rather than because they need to.

Wow i didn't know that so thanks, shows how little i know, i didnt realise you could just keep on having existing ones done. I do natural nails, but im very interested in adding Shellac to my list and the new Brisa Lite sounds tempting too ( i did Calgel many years ago) . Am hoping to go to Excel but dont know if i will make it , do you know by chance if you get any offers with sweet squared direct if you can't get there ? i am registedwith them ;)

There you go! It's not something you're doing. Geeg is right, if you're not doing anything different and they've lasted perfectly fine before, then how can it be you! Confidence booster or what?!

How old are your bulbs? If you have been doing alright with the product your using and then suddenly everything goes downhill? Sounds like a in-due bulbchange.

P.S: Not saying you shouldn't switch brands though! Definitely do that!;)

Sweet Squared do deals frequently BUT you will not be able to purchase the show deals if you don't go to the show ... That is why they are called show deals!

The show deals will be specifically for those attending the show, but Sweet Squared do Gold and Platinum package deals, where you get prep products, CND UV Lamp, Shellac base coat, top coat and some colours all in a package - and great savings! :)

I've literally just them yesterday, so will see how I get on now, only had my lamp since Oct though, how long should bulbs last??? Booked myself on a CND conversion course too xxx

Thanks i will have a look - i just wondered as i know sometimes from my other suppliers they send me emails with discounts saying something like " if you can't make it etc order with the following discount..."

It has certainly made me stop doubting myself!!! Gigi has also inspired me to book a conversion course to CND, roll on 11th of Feb xxx

With average use it is recommended to change every 6 months. Earlier if you use it alot and it also depends on the lamp and bulbs.
