When my grandaughter was 3 weeks she was seriously ill in hospital. She developed a very sever nappy rash and had blisters all over her bottom. The midwife used grapeseed oil to clean her bottom, then rubbed a small amount on her bottom before the nappy. The nappy rash went within a couple of days. My daughter continued with grapeseed oil and she has never suffered from nappy rash since. My grandaughter is nearly 2 n half now and my daughter still uses it for teething, dribble rashes etc.
It's around £3. from Holland n Barratt for a small bottle, i found a place on the net which sells a litre bottle for £10. It lasts for months.

Not sure if i should say which brand this is but when i was at college we researched this and found anti-freeze in one baby product!
Any cream i put on my little one comes from lush. It's all natural and has a cell by date. You dont have to buy the flowery scented ones either they have some nice smelling buttery ones. It's great stuff!! xxx

Thanks for all the product reccommendations ! :) I am going to have fun trying them out.

Kylie can you pm me what brand it is ! If it is 100% in the ingredients and listed on the packaging then I would think you can write it on here as its factually correct and they obviously aren't trying to hide it.....or are they ?

Funny you should mention lush as my friends sister works there and she was telling me about some cool products they sell that can be used on babys.

I have already started buying some products to test on myself first, bought some burts bees baby products yesterday so may have a go later !

the makers of "Baby Oil" should be sued.

I Use The Boots Expert Baby Sensitive Protecting Bottom Balm.
I only use it if she seems to have a sore bottom and after a day or too the redness clears up, I dont think its neccesary to use it daily.

Also something that might help as I only got told this a few weeks ago and would have loved to have known from the beginning, Boots do a homeopathic remidy for teething, its little granules and they work a treat, much better than any of the teething gels on the market.

Congratulations! I'd second what someone posted about rosewater or lavender in a spray bottle, lavender is good at neutralising the smell of pooh so a drop or two is a great idea!
You can buy pure virgin olive oil in a spray bottle now for about £2 in the supermarket, it's next to the scary 1-cal stuff! That might be handy to keep in your bag either to moisturise with or use as a cleanser with a flannel.
I don't know what you're planning to do about nappies, but there are some great terry nappies out there now, shaped like disposables so bebe isn't carting four tons of wet towel round with her/him - I don't know any companies but I know that when I was doing my midwifery modules about five years ago there were some fab ones available on line. I say this as I don't think it can be good for babies' skin to have disposables on all the time (I am allergic to some panty liners myself which is a pretty miserable thing to discover!) but I can see how terries might seem an icky thought. I don't know if this makes any sense but enjoy your lovely baby when s/he comes!
