I don't blame anyone who attends a course, I blame the training providers who are only interested in making an easy buck. With respect, no amount of time or experience is gong to elevate you to the same level as someone who is using a better system, is more skilled and has had better training. A lot of these schools are selling courses, not careers. They hire function rooms, charge each participant circa £400 -£700, book 12-16 participants on each course and then send them away with a certificate after 5 hours training. Do the sums. they're making a killing and damaging the industry in the process. Even the ones holding small classes of 2 or 3 earn over £1k a day, very nice work if you can get it. I don't blame the people who sign up to these courses though, they're trying to better themselves, the only thing they're guilty of is being naive and gullible.
There's a reason Great Length's, Racoon etc only train qualified hairdressers. Ask yourself, why would these massive, pioneering hair extension companies turn business away if they really felt hairdressing wasn't necessary? It's because they want to protect their brand and maintain their reputation, something they can't do if their products are being badly fitted.
For those of you who aren't qualified hairdressers, Connect Hair Extensions London (definitely not to be confused with a different school which has Connect in the title) offer excellent training. Of course, the cost if these courses is higher but with extension training, you really do get what you pay for.
From now on I will give honest feedback whenever I can, if you don't like it or don't feel confident enough to post then I suggest you take it up with your training provider. You might also want to consider what you're going to do about training once regulation is introduced and all these Micky Mouse certificates become useless.
