When I was training it was the done thing to use bleach and 12%, I have since learned not to do this and never use more than 6%. Every one at my new salon uses 12% with foils, what's the best way to explain why you shouldn't with out sounding like I am telling them what to do?

Just say oh why do use 12% i found 6% gives enough lift without compromising the condition.

what bleach do you use? Have you got proper peroxide or supplier cheap one?

You could say something like..
I noticed you use 12% with bleach, I always used to do that as that's the way I was taught, but I've since learnt that using 6% gives a much cleaner even result and is less damaging on the hair so it's a win win situation! Did you know that?! Xxx

I've never tried freeze lite to be honest, but I always believe proper peroxide works best but it's notvyourvsalon to make that choice :(

I am self employed and am thinking of asking if I can provide my own stuff and change the % split

I'm old school hairdresser.....I'm reading this and I'm wanting to learn. Atm I use Wella blondor with Wella cream peroxide. If I need to hi light yep I go straight in, bam with the 12%. What do you recommend and why ?
Maybe I should go back to college and do a re fresher course.

Sent from my HTC Desire using SalonGeek

12 can sometimes be needed, such as on my hair, anything less wont get me from a base 2 to platinum, but the 12% is for instant lift then I re bleach with 6% to finish it as even 12% can't lift it enough on me xoxo

when i was training many moons ago, we always used bleach + 60vol, just the thought of it now sends shivers down my spine!!! and under the dryer!!!!! lol

Snap when I trained we used 60 all the time, it was quiet a shock how things had changed when I returned to hairdressing after a big break, I only use 3 or 6 now and trying to up date my knowledge all the time in colouring as I'm fine with cutting but always feel that there's more to learn with colour I'm using goldwell at mo but thinking about changing to matrix as everyone on here rates it so doing my first course next month matrix blondes as these always make me nerves.
