Hi geeks,
I'm popping over from nails... My cousin has just had some blonde highlights in her hair, she's very unsure of it at the minute as its very blonde and she wasn't expecting that much blonde but she also thinks the colour looks yellow. I thought blonde shampoo might tone down the yellowing colour but thought I'd check with you all???

Thanks!!

Blonde shampoo won't tone down the gold. You need a silver shampoo to tone it down.
If her hair is very pale yellow, this should work just fine. But if the highlights are very golden/brassy it won't work as well and will only dull it a bit.

:)

Oh, a blonde shampoo just enhances the blonde tones in bleached or naturally blonde hair.

Thanks for your help!!
Will using a silver shampoo not affect the rest of her hair though? She's naturally brown with blonde highlights?

Using a silver shampoo will not affect her natural brown hair, but advice her to be observant, as using silver shampoo constantly could lead to her highlights developing a slightly ashy/violet tone.
Tell her to use it until the desired neutralization of the yellow tones has been achieved, then only use it once or twice a week.

If her hair was to develop an ashy/violet hue, just tell her to continue using her usual shampoo until it fades out.

Hair that has been overly bleached to the very very pale yellow/almost white stage will almost certainly develop the violet/ ashy tone when using silver shampoo.

:)

Great thankyou!! :) I will let her know, were going on holiday on Sunday and she was gutted her hair wasn't how she wanted so hopefully this will help!!
