Mine is out of warranty so I was offered no solution or relacement when back in stock by S2. It has been used for 110 hours which is laughable considering the price of the lamp. I had no choice but to buy some gelish & another lamp yesterday as it was that or fold my business. You cant just hang around waiting for the lamps to come back in stock when you have customers booked in.
I know that faulty batches are unaviodable, but surely they should have recalled all within that batch to make sure they got all the faulty ones back instead it seems they have left it to chance as to which will break & which will not. Not very good service to be honest !!

What im saying is that not everyone is having problems and as someone who has had a range of lamps from different time frames its clear that it isnt just a case of if you bought it at a certain time it'll be faulty.
So those that are not having problems should not presume they will- worrying will do no good. Contact S2 IF worried rather then what-iffing.

See your angle but, I think it was confirmed by s2 that there was a "faulty batch" though? No?
In which case I think we have every right to feel anxious?

yes worth ringing and logging the fault bet your heart jumped out of your chest panic....:Scared: (but you have a back up right and a back up for that back up joking must laugh or you'll just cry)

yes defiantly log it with them as with most usually cheap electrical items
(Not in the case of cnd lamps lot of money for a 4 bulb uv lamp, uv led is the way forward, i switched many moons ago no complaints so far )
it is always a week or so after warranty runs out you get caught out sorry to hear that you and many others are in a right pickle it is not nice ,you will be forever watching until the problem is solved do you even know what the fault is...?

i must say i was out the moment you had to have a specific lamp for curing not for me i love verity plus at the time there were not even many colors

but I'm sure led will be along soon then you can really go at the speed of light

totally of subject hazel there is a uv polish you flash outside in daylight not relevant(forget uv led you might one day never need a lamp just a sunny day...hmmmm) on YouTube somewhere
hope you can smile xx

i think all will be good in the end xx

What is this mystery product Katie ??!!

thats not long at all OMG...!!!not for a professional lamp (how much to fix surely they can do something there for you )

you will not believe this but i know techs that have had the rio lamp for years of usage and never had problems and that is a consumer product
(not encouraging purchase ladies just an observation)

end of the day it's electrical s for you.
even the led lamps are getting way to powerful the output makes no sense when it is cured perfectly with lower output without the heat spikes that can occur,

good luck anyway xx

Of course those with problems should contact S2 no-one is saying they shouldn't??

Actually worrying will do some good. If you are down to one lamp then being aware of the situation and making a plan for what to do if your lamps breaks - it may not even be because of this fault situation, accidents happen, wear and tear particularly for mobile techs etc. This is our livelihoods and we can not afford to just bury our heads in the sand and hope that the situation resolves itself. Well that is my opinion anyway, perhaps you take a different approach. Some people like to worry, and use it to their advantage, many very successful famous people are great worriers (sp?) and consequently always best placed to take advantage of changing events (SWOT analysis).

Putting asside the 'faulty batch' which may or may not affect a v. small minority of techs, the fact you can not buy a new lamp at least for 'a few more weeks' is a 'T' to all CND techs. This is not a what if situation this is the current state of affairs

Anyway I'm taking this thread on a major detour now! Sorry!

Yeah I know. I'm not gonna think about it anymore as for now..... It works, fingers crossed it stays that way!

Maybe I didn't push the wire in fully either? I did push it in and check it but the lamp refused point blankly to come on though!
Hope it was just a one off?!

One of my lamps has done the same a few times, just wouldn't turn on and i I had to wait! ...I've already had two replacement lamps .....I love shellac so much I can't be without it that's why I now have two lamps xx

That's really nice of you I am going to have to wait because I need the starter kit.
I'm in Nuneaton btw :)

I get that a back up lamp is handy (I have three in my salon for different desks/rooms) but where do you draw the line? Dies everyone have a spare wax pot? Spray gun? Hot stone heater? It's just not affordable and the fact that everyone is expecting the lamps to break doesn't say much for the brand. I am a loyal CND girl but I've been through 6 in the last 18 months. Which is 6 phone calls, 6 trips to the post office etc. not good!

My lamp 'popped' the week before NY so had some rather annoyed clients as I do not have a back up lamp. I've called s2 several times and they keep telling me there is no change and still waiting for a shipment from America and wouldn't admit that there was any possibility of a faulty lamp but took my details and said as soon as they have one will send it same day to me. Doesn't really help me or my clients out though! Really annoyed that I've had to hand over some of my clients to my colleague to offer them Gelish in the interim >:-(

Personally I think there's always been a problem with these lamps. I've been a loyal CND Shellac girl since its release but I'm now on my 4th lamp in that time. The first one was replaced because the socket fell into the lamp, lamps 2 & 3 had the 2 bulbs stop working fault which seems so common.

When I've called about my problem fault I've been poo pooed and made to feel it was just me and I must been doing something to my lamps. As soon as it was discovered that I took it out sometimes to do mobile that was jumped on and I was told I was being too rough.

I got into such a panic that I brought another, which I think is a terrible waste of money but I just couldn't take the risk anymore. As Haylez250 said should we really be keeping back ups of everything, just in case! I ask you, what nonsense!

I bought mine in November and now I am getting a bit worried. I don't use it as often as some of you as I've only just started out and only have a few clients. So mine will prob blow up just outside of its warranty :(
I agree that serial numbers should be checked and lamps returned for exchange as soon as the new ones arrive.

I'm mobile and cart my lamp around everywhere. Over speed bumps, you name it. It's not CND, its Sibel. I even dropped the bag it was in last week on the pavement as the bag strap broke. Lamp is still in perfect working order. Never had a problem with it and I've had it for over a year. I'm heavy handed and probably a bit rough with it but it has lasted well. Very well built.

Seems crazy in this day and age that you all have to wait for a boat to chug along from china to USA and then on to uk.

They can get things made a lot cheaper in China as labour costs are so low there, so maybe its not that crazy. However, this isnt reflected in the price of the lamp.
When we have problems with the lamps that are out of warranty ( 1 year) & have paid over £100 for something that has lasted 110 hours there is nothing they can do to help. Basically, its out of warranty so tough. To me, its not fit for purpose if it only lasts that long & should be replaced.

I was thinking more about mode of transport than where they are made. I realise this is a cost issue too but seems tough on people who are losing business.

Mine broke just before Christmas and I still haven't had a replacement, I'm getting pretty annoyed actually, I rang S2 again today to see if they knew if anywhere had any in stock or if they had an estimated delivery date and they don't!
I heard there's a faulty batch and that the older ones tend to be ok!
Getting really sick now, there a massive company this shouldn't be happening!
