:Scared: i just coloured my regular clients hair today with the same colours ive always used bleach +20/30 and 7/07 2-1 highlights this colour always turns out lovely but today the clients was very weak and broken after colouring!
it had been 4 months since i had coloured it and she has said that inbetween she has been using suning hair lightiner once a week to lighten the roots as she could not afford to have it coloured!

do you think that this may have caused the hair to break this time? i have no experience of this product as it is not proffesional the hair seemed to be in good condition before i started!

Well bleach with 30 vol is bad enough but add it on with hair lightning sprays then omg!! Has she any hair left? The metallic salt levels on these sprays are awful.

The spray in lightner should be banned! It's a awful product and will not stop bleaching. A friend used it years back, had to go to hospital as her scalp burned and clumps fell out.
Give her major reconstructing treatments and tell her to pour what she has left down the toilet where it belongs xoxo

Did you stretch test and strand test her hair first before you coloured?
Did the clinet tell you about the sun in during your consultation or after youd applied the colour?
Sun in should be banned! Its a horrendous product.
If the protein levels and the tyrazine in her hair are very low, which they will be due to sun in as it strips the hair, any type of colour whether its 6,9 or 12% is going to only damage the hair further.
Did you say you used 30 vol?
Did you just colour her roots?
Soory for the questions, trying to build up a picture lol x

thanks so much for your reply i have sent hair home with matrix strengthening shampoo and the intensive treatments to match it just really freaked me as i used these colours on here so many times and hair has always been good no problems, did not realise the damage this product could do its just awfull!

Omg, I would never colour any1's hair that has touched that stuff!! It never stops working until its grown out!!! That stuff should be illegal

yes i just coloured the roots i didnt take 30 through the ends i only use the 30 as her hair always kicks up yellow tone that 20 wont get rid off! her roots were big as it had been 4 months since last colour she mentioned in cosultation that she had used it but hair just seemed in normal health just a little brassier, ihad no idea the damage it would cause.

i feel so awful

Did you stretch test prior to colouring?

no im afraid i never even thought! but one thing is for sure ill never touch hair thats been near that stuff again! i normally am a good hairdresser never have any problems dont know what i was thinking tonight! x

thanks for all your responses guys!

Please try using v-light with 20vol your results will be brill and not yellow! X

Its awful when it does go wrong, which im sure happens to most of us from time to time.
Hope it turns out ok.
Just remember if they use sun in,run for the hills!!!

God that is scary stuff alright, freaked x

Sorry to jump in here but what do you mean when you say it doesn't stop working?

Its as it says basically, more often than not it dosent grow out but breaks out.
I don't really know how it works but I think it's light activated so basically the only time it isn't working is in bed at night. Xoxo

Surely that isn't possible, I know it says on the box it is permanent and you have to grow it out but it can't continue to work after being shampooed surely? Obviously not condoning it as its awful stuff...tested the John frieda spray on myself once and it burnt my scalp and my forehead where it had slowly crept over my hairline...baffles me as to why a hairdresser would have his name on a bottle of pure evil...:/

The people I know have used it seem to never stop lightening even though they only used it on the root area when it grew, yellowy roots for a few days and white almost see through ends. It's rediculous stuff, some1 on google said its heat and light activated so central heating and working with bright lights will only make it worse too xoxo

Yeah it's mental, on the blond spray I tried, it says to 'enhance lightening effect' spray on damp hair, dry in and then straighten! I mean, would you paste bleach on your hair, dry it in and then burn it into your hair with straighteners (probably set to 230 knowing some people) NO...I don't have a clue what some of these product developers are thinking when they decide to put these type of products on the shelves!!....well I do...$$

If i had a product range id b scared of my reputation selling stuff like that.
My flat irons don't have temp setting so I'd b stuck with 230 (kodo's from 2005) xoxo

It's annoying because they're printed with his name on and slightly procier than others in the shops, everyone thinks theyre good! Ah but you know how to look after your hair ;)

I'm sure you normally are a good hairdresser honey!!!

There will be lots of people that havnt even heard of this stuff. My colleagues mum has used it on her hair and i wint touch it, sge and my colleague was unaware of the damage it causes for future colouring.
We keep doing strand tests after lots of aftercare treatment but it still continues to break, even with the mildest products!!
There is nothing you can do until it has grown out!!
Vile stuff.. At least you no for the future.

This thread will hopefully help others that haven't heard ov the stuff too!!t
