I do offer this service now as i have tried it on myself first, then did it on nail biters and people with imperfect nail beds or short ones.

I have to say i never used to charge extra for this as i never felt i was good at it, but now i have practiced this method on myself loads and had excellent results with it, i am charging more for this service, especially as i don't know hardly anyone who offers this in all the salons and mobile techs in my area.

I need it on myself as my nail beds, although getting longer over time, were horrendously short and damaged through me being an awful nail biter myself.

I tend to use a thin layer of the camouflage mix i use on the nail bed and go over it with normal pink. I do the same with my gels too. I use a thin layer of the camouflage gel then cover with a little pink, then clear. This helps stop the bubble gum look that the camouflage gel would normally have if that was all that was used.

It is worth learning to do this as it really opens up the scope of what you can offer to the public, that a lot of other techs don't.

I do a lot of CCb now, I started offering them to clients in January, initally for the same price as their usual P&Ws as a trial run. TBH I didn't think it would catch on round here.

They all loved them so much that every single one that had the CCB on trial now still has them, only now they are paying £6 more for them. I get a few clients asking for it now as well, as one of my CCB ladies works in the local tanning shop and shows everyone her nails, so they all ring up asking for 'the ones that the lady in Heatwve has'!:)

Excellent....thanks for updating us.
YOu have really proved my point and I hope all the other geeks who posted on here that didn't charge extra or didn't do CCB are now going to be motivated by your succes.

I sometimes do CCB on my clients with nails that need soom coverage solution or for nail biters. I don't charge any extra as yet as I am not 100% confident with my application and colour mix and getting the right colour for the clients skin tones.

I keep having a play but it is not my main nail service just yet. I have a draw full of different colours just waiting to be used too lol!!!

I do offer CCB, but at the moment I don't charge extra for it...... I use my coverage blend in as a thin layer in zone 2 to extend the nail bed then I use Perfect Pink in zone 3 and to build my apex...... I think it looks more natural that way as you still get the translucancy from the Perfect Pink.

I do exactly as Vetty does, I use it alot.. I dont see any point in charging extra for it.. I mean the product all costs the same to me, standard P&W or Coverage w/ P&W it has the same base cost, and is no different to doing a standard set.... Personally I dont like to say to someone.. okay you need these powders to cover this and this and create this look... But it will cost you more... I just offer a base price for enhancements and do what I feel the nail needs. I've been in marketing and sales for 10 years prior to becoming a nail tech and cannot stand add on prices lol... everything my client needs is built into the price.. which does make my prices higher BUT when a client feels they are getting something for free they are more than happy to hand over the cash card.

i have been custom blending now for about 3 yrs.
about 80% of my enhancement clients have this.
i use a 80% opaque blend in zone 2 and a 50% blend in zone 3.
this gives a less "barbie" look at the cuticle end, and as there is some opacity in both zones, it is easier to rebalance as it grows out.

as to whether you charge more.. the way i see it is, a custom blend takes longer to do the consultation and mix the blend, so the higher charge.
the only clients that dont have this treatment have great nail beds so traditional transparent pink is great, or they wear enamel all the time so they only have pink or clear in all zones.

the difference in time between a custom blend & a set of 1 colour enhancements is at least 30 mins.
i dont see it fair to charge the same for both.
im also a hairdresser, & if i do 4 coloured foils and a base colour on the rest and a restyle, i wouldnt charge the same for a quick trim and a 1 colour tint.

also, to invest in the system and education for ccb, u should b charging a premium price.
thete is also that strange client thing of "perceived value"
ie. if something carries a premium price, it must b better!

its not ripping people off, its a case of allowing all customers the choice on service and cost, as not all clients can afford £60 p. month on thier nails, so they can choose the simple option.

Sadly I do not offer this for the plain reason I cant do them!!!!

I have read all the info trolled the threads but never had an attempt.
Training is what I need and alot of it but at the moment that isn't an option:cry:
