Hi,
Does anyone have any advice or tips as to how to select the correct colours to suit a clients skin tone? and how do you determine if a client has a warm or cool skin tone? Tia :)

I find having colour samples very helpful as you can hold them on the clients nails so they can see if it suits their skin tone. Clients are pretty good at choosing what suits them.

Tanned hands - corals and bright orangey reds
Pale white hands - deeper reds or pinks
There's no hard and fast rules though.

I do colour wheels but some people do colour pop sticks
This is an example of my neon colour wheel

A very simple guide is to ask whether they prefer to wear silver coloured or gold coloured jewellery. If they have a definite preference, it gives you a clue what colours are likely to suit them best.
Silver = cool colours and gold = warm colours.

I'm a hairdresser and I also used to keep a couple of gold and silver silk scarves in my kit to drape around the neck. That often helps the clients who really aren't sure themselves to see what works with their skin tones.
