Hi guys, I run a business from home. I’m a hairdresser with a salon in my back garden... I’ve closed the salon the last couple of days as weather has been so bad and roads even around the main town have been terrible. A client want to come tomorrow, it hasn’t snowed overnight but is supposed to today. I struggled to keep on top of clearing the snow and ice on Tuesday before it got bad. Of course I’m insured for everything but really don’t want it to happen! If when I’m doing their hair if it snows and settles again or freezes again after I’ve gritted, which has happened I don’t know legally where I stand if they slip.. am I liable? Is it best to close until it clears?

Best to talk to your insurance provider, we cant know the details of your policy and things change all the time.

I believe you could be liable.....but as stated, check with your insurance as things often change.

A few years back when I worked from my home studio, I was advised that if I had attempted to clear the drive, and a client slipped, I would be liable.

Weirdly, they recommended not to attempt to clear the drive - and that it was then at their own risk if they then decided to pass over my drive! :confused:o_O

I have been told off people in the past you can be liable. But as everyone else has stated its best to check x
