Hey, I think as frustrating as it may be id probably agree with Jarvis & either drop by her house or phone some time & say u were concerned about her as ud never heard from her, etc etc, I have to admit im one of those people who "if they're having a bad time for whatever reason hide in their shell dont want to talk etc" Giver her a chance to explain her reasons cos we do sometimes forget things when more important family matters etc arise & at least you'll know either way xx

If you don't mind my saying so ... typical woman/NON business woman and not a business woman's reaction.

The fact is, it does not matter what the reason/excuse is ... she booked the time, the therapist spent her time and money to be at the appointment on time ... the client 'no showed' therefore the client owes the therapist for the time and expense. The reason does not matter .. the client broke a contract. You can be as sorry and sympathetic as you like about the reasons why (if there are any) but it doesn't change a thing.

Would your dentist call in and see if you were OK if you didn't show for an appointment ... would your Doctor? ... would your lawyer? Ridiculous, NONE· of them would do this. It doesn't Matter! :grr:

Oops fingers smacked lol, yes i totally see your point now, id be very amused if my Dr/Dentist phoned to see how i was doing if i missed my app & yes im not a "proffesional with a running business so i'll take that telling off very gracefully:smack: x

It's really not a telling off .. lol I'm teaching you. Women have to learn to be business minded and to stop being soppy women. I'm not saying you need to be a hard nose either ... just react in a business like way and not as a soft hearted way. You have to look at business differently.

You make a contract with someone and it is up to BOTH to fulfil their side of the bargain. In this case the therapist did fulfil her part and the other person did not.

I couldnt agree more!! how true xx

I totally agree with Geeg. No other profession would put up with missed appointments and not charge for their lost time. If you want to be seen as a professional, you have to act like one in every respect and that includes valuing your precious time.

Also remember, it's very important that YOU choose your customers. At the first opportunity get rid of the idiots, the timewasters, the penny-pinchers and those that don't value your service - they only bring grief and hassle. You are in business and it's not a social charity.

Fill your time only with clients that respect you and value both your time and service. Life will not only be simpler but you will also make more money.

Better to have some hours in your appointment book free to plan your business, do some marketing, practise some technique or do something which gives you long term benefit than plonk a loony in the chair who isn't part of your long term strategy!

This happened to me at the weekend :(

I had a party booking for approx £150 worth of work.

I texted in the morning to confirm and she did reply saying oh yes can't wait.

I went to her house and it was in complete darkness.

Now usually I would take a deposit on such a big booking but it was made on the Thursday for the Saturday.

I had my suspicions about this appt as she wouldn't answer my calls it was all arranged by text but hey ho I went along anyway.

After texting and calling her (both with no reply) she texted back saying her wee boy had been rushed into hospital and that she was really sorry.

My suspicious mind told me from the offset that this wasn't right and if it is true that her wee boy is in hospital then I truly hope he is okay but I was gutted as it was a big job.

if i get to a clients house and no reply i pop a business card through with "hi called for the appointment you book for (date/time) i'll waive the 50% cancellation fee this time Thanks" but only if its the first time it happened then the next appointment they book i tell them that i need a deposit and that i am very sorry to have to ask and explain that i am busy and in demand. i guarantee that it will only ever happen the once!!

Why let anyone have the chance ti diddle you even once? If it's made clear in your policy right from the start it doesn't have to.

I'm always bashing on about 'mobile' therapists having higher self worth. First off, stop calling yourself 'mobile' and call yourself Freelance or Personal.

If you had a personal trainer come to your house, then you would expect to pay more than if you went to the gym as it's a personal service. Why is it that 'mobile' therapists seem to think that they shouldn't charge much? It's ridiculous!!!!

Know you worth. If you're a fab nail tech, then aren't they lucky that YOU......'the fantastic nail tech' is going to their home and saving them the time of going to a salon.

xxx

I have had it done to me a few times but they only did it once thank God.
No way we can charge them here if they're not home/no shows.

I once worked in a salon and I had 3 clients in the afternoon...after 15mins late I phoned the first one and asked if she was going to be at her appt anytime soon and she said 'I'm on my way i'll be there in 30mins'. now that's 45mins late!!
I told her 'Can we shcedule another appointment because I can't run late as it's unfair for the other clients...'
She went berserk and fuming and shouting at me on the phone that she has never heard of this done ... I had to end the call and never heard of her again... good riddance i guess...but yes it ruined my day. thank god she didn't continue her way to the salon to complain. oh well :)

Hi Everyone

Just wondered what other mobile nail techs do when they turn up at a clients house to do there nails and no one is home. I did some silk nails for a lady and she booked an infill appointment while i was there and she wrote the appointment on her calander and i also gave it to her on an appointment card.

I turned up on the morning to do her infills and no one was in i knocked a few times and then called the ckient on her mobile but there was no answer so i left her a message on the mobile explaining that i had turned up and no one was in. What do all you other mobile techs do if you turn up and your client is not there.:irked:

Hi,

If I turn up for an appointment, and my client isn't home, I usually just leave a note saying:

'Hello, I called today at 1pm for your scheduled hair/nail/tan appointment, I'm sorry you weren't in. Please give me a call on 0123456789 if you'd like to re-book your appointment. Thank you'.

They usually call me, but if I don't hear from them, then I wait a day or two and call them. They are usually appologetic, and 9 times out of 10, they re-book, and are there when I call again!
I'm just giving you an idea, so I hope that helps! :)
