A lot of my clients have asked me if I do eyebrows as well as nails so they could kill two birds with one stone. I don't.

I would imagine you learn eyebrows (waxing, plucking, whatever) as part of a Beauty Course.

But if it is possible to learn JUST eyebrows anywhere, I would give it a go. I don't have time to do a lengthy course which takes in other stuff, but if there were a short course in it I'd be interested to hear about it. There is probably a lot more to it than meets the eye, as with most things, but no harm in asking the question eh?!

Thank you everyone. :) xx

you could do a waxing course, some only last a couple of months, what about a night course at your local college

I only ever learnt to pluck eyebrows and only started waxing eyebrows maybe 10 years ago it just wasnt done because of stretching skin or whatever so i wasn't taught to wax eyebrows but i was taught to wax so i would say you do need to do a course if you want to wax.Its an insurance thing isnt it .Its not rocket science its taking it slowly and following a natural line but if you mess it up and you arnt qualified then.......

i have seen eye treatments offered as a 1 day course. usually covers brow shaping and eye lash tinting and maybe false lashes.

Hi Blossom

Ive just learnt eyebrow shaping/tidy last week at college as part of the VTCT cosmetics makeup course for 18 weeks. Although before i started, i looked into a course for eye treatments only which was a day course. It covers eyelash perming, eyelash/brow tinting, eyebrow shaping (plucking)and falsh lashes. They do it a the local Sallys/ Capital. If you dont want to do the perming, its just half a day course for the rest. Its through Training Solutions

Training Solutions in Beauty Introduction

Hope this helps you. The shaping & tinting is really enjoyable to!!

its a good treatment to add to your repertoir, i do quite a lot. extra 10 mins and i charge £5. every little helps.

I would do the one day course if you are looking at doing only eyebrow shape, but to learn eye lash tint and perm and false lashes in one day too...well... I dont know how they do it! I did it as part of my beauty course and it took 12 weeks!

I dont think it is worth doing a waxing course unless you are going to offer waxing in general as it is not worth switching you wax pot on all the time just for eyebrows. If you are going to do waxing, I would also steer clear of 'one day courses' I have seen some relly bad bruising from inexperienced people and a bruised bikini line is not only sore but also unattractive on the beach!!

Sorry, this is obviously just my opinion, Hope i have not offended anyone who had done a course like this as there are exceptions to the rule.

Hthx

Thank you for your help. xx

Waxing by itself is a very profitable business. On average I guess we do about 5 eyebrow waxes a day, each therapist.

It's extremely popular, very quick but I dont know of any courses that revolve around eyebrow waxing only.

I would suggest doing a full wax course. Not a day course as tbh you certainly will NOT be confident or competant after a 1 day course, you wont be able to practice on different eyebrow shapes etc.

If you do a full waxing course this will get you used to different eyebrow shapes, the waxing techniques, what suits each individual and contra-actions as well as contra-indications.

Eyebrow waxing is one of the hardest things a therapist has to master,it takes time to learn the art of starting with a non existant shape and transforming it to the perfect arched eyebrow.

It's not a case of just taking a few hairs in order to get a good shape.Shaping an eyebrow properly takes time and there are therapists that are dedicated to this skill alone who charge a lot of money.

Anyway,as I said,give the whole waxing course a thought,it could boost your profits considerably,hth

I agree to.

Its all very well if you get someone that has 'perfect' eyebrows that just requires a few stray hairs removed but if you have someone with really wild eyebrows it can be really difficult to shape them.

At college we were taught to shape the eyebrows with tweezers first then waxing.

Look at this way on a one day course you will probably just work on one person then go straight onto clients.
At college you will work on a variety, classmates & clients. This will give you experience of the different types of eyebrow shapes that people require & your tutor will be on hand to guide you.

IMO eyebrow shaping is an art in itself.

hiya, i'm only recently qualified but understand about the demand for eyebrow shaping, i thought it would be a breeze as i'm so used to doing mine, but it can be tricky, and theres not much room for mistakes, its good to get decent training as we were taught how to measure it out to maximise the appearance. i don't always use wax but it is good to get the bulk of hair if there is alot to remove first.

Hello,

I done a one day waxing course at one of the local beauty wholesalers near where i live, it cost about £90+vat and the lady who trained us was an educator for salon systems.
It was a really good course for me, who does nails and can through that little extra in as well.
