I use CND Shellac on my nails and it lasts two to three weeks, with no issues.
I use it in the salon and almost every client has had it last between 10 to 20 days with no issues... except two.
One client had it 'slip off in one piece' from seven nails and another had flaking from three nails.
Two issues in three months from over twenty repeat clients is still a worry.
Any guidance appreciated.

Shellac is a nail coating for people with healthy nails who want longer lasting colour than traditional polish with zero dry time. It will not suit every nail condition :)

The client who had shellac flake, did she have flaky peeling nails? If so this is the cause of the flaking. Shellac is such a thin coating that it relies on the natural nail for its strength, if the nail flakes under the surface, the shellac will also flake away.

For the client who had 7 peel off, hmm I smell client interference but without seeing the nails who knows Clients with thin weak or overfilled nails can have shellac peel off like this, as again shellac relies on the natural nail for strength and thin or weak nails are to flexible to provide proper support so the coating is constantly being put under too much stress and will loose adhesion

For tricky clients like these suggest a stronger coating such as Gel or Liquid and Powder :)

Those clients might need to have their nails dehydrated more before application, I know I do! After you scrub fresh, apply cnd's nail fresh and proceed as usual. I used to get only 7-10 days with shellac before it started lifting badly but after this I get 14 days with no problems.

Many thanks to the both of you for such prompt advice.
I have on my order list the ScrubFresh as I suspected that possibly I may not have fully eliminated surface contaminants during my nail prep.
The mention of 'Gel or Liquid and Powder'... are you meaning acrylic?

If you haven't been using Scrubfresh then there is your first clue as to why you have seen service breakdown. I am surprised you have only had problems with 2 clients if you don't use Scrubfresh.

Liquid and Powder is the professional term for what you probably call acrylic :)

The reason for this is because hard gel, liquid and powder and even shellac are infact all acrylic , just in different forms :)
