It's not bad to work from home, as long as your working safely and in a well ventilated area - your should be able to get MSDS sheets for the monomer which will tell you the risk factors of absorption, inhalation, digestion of the product and what to do in an emergency, or if you spill it and so on (or at least my MSDS sheets do, I'm guessing it's the same for most)

I also have a home salon.

When applying the acrylic I always make sure I have a window open.

To help with getting rid of the smell I make sure I remove my wiping pad from the room immediately and within an hour the smell has disappeared.
If you can not remove the pad from the room an alternative is to pop it in a snap lock back and place it in your bin.
But I always empty my bin each day into my garbage bin outside.

Keeping doors closed (if possible) from other rooms in the house also helps.

HTH :)

just to add to this get a metal bin with a lid! it contains the release of vapours into the air alot better, this was advise from my CND tutor and our training room had lots of little metal bins with lids for used wipes etc. also if you can use them (i personally can't) you can get dispensers which only dispense a brush full of monomer at a time so the vapours arent constantly released into the air, it's not harmful per-see but they can develop allergic reactions over a long period of time from overexposure so if your that worried just take some preventative measures like the ones mentioned above. =)

The real danger is the fine plastic dust from filing. It can settle in you lungs.
