Yes thats the way i was trained ..... Doubted myself for a min there lol

Wow - what an interesting thread :) Let us know if you experiment doing one hand dry/one hand wet and if there was any drastic difference with the two

Thank you, i will do my daughters nails and test it out x

Well .... dont know if its coincidence or if my application has got much better but the dry prep faired better ....

Im now only using wet prep on hard thick cuticles....works for me x

That was really interesting!
Might have a go at dry prepping myself.

I dont think that one way is better than the other as long as they are both done correctly, having been trained in both ways. I do think that when you have done a foundation course like i did, you do get taught all the basics, but over time and after talking to more experienced techs you find you own way of doing things are are effective for you. All these little tips help you to get your timing down. When i first started i could take about 40 odd minutes just prepping (being too slow and too careful )....even on my course i was told i was being too thorough but i just had it in my head that it was necessary (this was wet prep by the way). It now takes me about 5-10 min top, as i have been give loads of hints and tips along the way.
I now do dry prep...unless there is overgrowth and dryness then i do use a product...either CND eraser or Ezflow Cuticle care. But then i always recommend a manicure if it is really bad and i just do the minimum i can get away with that will not give any lifting......i think in a business sense you do not want to be doing a manicure as well as enhancements in one sitting unless of course the client is paying for it.

I think there is a time and place for both methods as most of the rest seem to.

Sometimes I do a full prep using products and sometimes I do a completely dry prep.

I do not think it is one vs the other. If there isn't much to remove I go dry ... if there is then I use products for gentleness and thoroughness. I think most technicians do this ... I only do what is necessary.
