Hi I have read a few threads on the subject, I am qualified but have not done any nails for the last year but I would like to do my nails for a wedding, I am trained in Gels Calgel, but over the last year have suffered with eczema on my hands which have affected 2 of my nails, not to badly just a bit pitted looking. I would like to do tips and a colour for the wedding but not to sure if it would do more damage to the nail, I could try and do a sculpts but as I have not done it for a while thought tips might be better. Any suggestions or advice please. I have to have them looking natural for work as not supposed to have anything on them.

I have a client who has eczema on some of her nails one is quite badly pitted & ridged, this particular client has had Brisa hard gel for years, with no consequences what so ever. It remains unchanged, if anything the gel offers the nail protection, where it could potentially split. HTH x

Thank you Fluffy I have not done nails for the last year and bit, I suffered badly with eczema on my hands so didnt want to make them worse, so stopped doing any nails, as only done a few anyway. Now with treatment its under control but my nails are looking naff, not what a nail tech wants people to see and worse still going to a wedding too, so want them looking nice. going to give them a go, but not sure if I should go the tip route, or just keep short and do overlays. That said short is an understatement at the moment. They just dont seem to be growing lately.x

I used to do a clients nails years ago (not with gel, just routine manicure) and she suffered with the same problem. She swore by brewers yeast supplements. After taking it for a few months her nails did seem much better.

Have you ever got to the bottom of what has caused your eczema? I know the medical stance is to treat with emollients and steroid creams, but if you can find the root cause, it should help the symptoms resolve rather than control them.

I have also found reflexology good for all sorts of ailments.

Hi Karina B I am waiting for my allergy patch testing, hopefully it wont be long then I should have an idea , I shouldn't really have any enhancement as not allowed for work but hopefully I can make them look very natural so wont stand out. Cant wait for the day when I can have coloured nails. Have all these lovely products and cant use them on me, not gels, polish is ok, but my nails are pitted etc so thats why I need to do something with them.x
