First paying client, nervous!

Hey geeks!! I have my first ever paying client on friday and i am so scared lol. I am a qualified beautician and have been for 6 years but i could never get hours to suit after i had my kids so been away from it for years. I worked in beauty until 2013 and done CND shellac all the time and have always done my own gelish but going solo this time mobile and have a gelish client on friday and im just so scared lol. Id upload a file to show you ones i done on my sister today so you can all give honest opinions but it always says my files are too big. I will give it a go though and you can all give me any pointers and honest opinions. Thanks all in advance! Xx

Thanks for the advice ha! I will try and channel that feeling to excitment. I am also excited. Forgot to mention above that i have recently totally retrained in gelish so its all fresh in my mind. How do you guys upload pics? Im all new to salon geek although i search on it constantly for the answers to my questions. Thanks so much for getting back to me! X

Wow I think they are lovely I'm training at moment and if mine look like that once I do them I'll be very happy. Good luck on Friday let us know how it goes. From the pics I think your customers will be very happy , good luck for Friday x

I actually now since yesterday have another 4 clients so thats 5 between now and next wednesday!!!! Better just get brave and get on with it ha! Xx

Omg so many that is brilliant good on you. That's thing isn't it first time going to be bit nerve wrecking but once you got that over you will be on your way and especially after you have completed all 5. Keep in touch id love to know how you get on and what it is like for you, its nice if we all support each other and then you feel like someone's on the journey with you. Oh wow please do let us know how you get on ! I'm in the same boat and getting back to things but keep finding problems with my work as to hy its not good enough or I cant actually ask someone to pay for it ! That colour is just stunning and they look gorgeous so I'm sure youll have no problems at all ! ! xx

Thanks so much everyone! U have all gave me a confidence boost ahead of the big day on friday lol. I now have a client at 9.30am fri and another at 12.30pm so this should really help with my confidence. The morning one is my cousin so having her straight before should help with my nerves (unless is goes horribly wrong) its nice to hear from some girls on the same boat. I think prep on the nails is key, the only thing i cant perfect just yet is the perfect smile line at the base of the cuticle and im sometimes scared to go too close to the side wall incase i then go onto the skin but ive recently been braver in doing this, especially to family members as they wont judge me and allow me to gain my confidence on them lol. Hi laura, good luck for Friday. I'm quite new too abd it's really scary getting real paying clients. I'm very critical of myself too and for some reason feel like I have regressed a bit and am getting scared of getting too close to the cuticle and side walls!!! They look so much better when close tho!! I'm paranoid about accidentally hitting them with files/buffers too!! Need to carry on tho...onwards and upwards and all that!! Best of luck x

Hi babybird54 thanks for the support!! Aw i know its hard to not criticise ur own work isnt it! And yes it looks soooo much better wen u go as close as possible but its scary incase u go to close and ruin it ha! We all need to be brave and take the bull by the horns [emoji23] are al of you also mobile? What is it u guys do? I use gelish. Eventually id like to do a brow course and maybe lashes, small and easy things to take around. I am qualified in most things but the thought of carrying around a waxpot and massage bed doesnt appeal lol. Xx

I still looking for the ideal product that i want to go for ! I did beauty a number of years a go but stopped due to family commitments and tried to reestablish a few months back but just didnt have the guts too. Now im just determined ! lol. Ill be mobile too in the beginning but have the choice to rent a small corner of a salon to have my nail station in ! Im also trained in spray tanning so thats an option im looking into plunging into !! .

I use gelish too. I first qualified in mani pedi 8 years ago but life got on the way and I never used it. Did my gel polish training in October and stated on November. I have a few regular clients now, well 2 !!! [emoji23][emoji23] I'm working part time tho so mostly just do evenings. I'm struggling to get new clients tho. Put out a valentines offer abd the facebookreach was 1500 people but not a single booking!!! Be interested to hear what others do to promote. I'm telling myself it will all come in time!! I work from home in my kitchen, tried mobile a few times but it just didn't work for me xx

Oh and I only do gel polish at the mo, and regular mani pedi. Would like to do waxing in the future but that's a way off yet c

with you regular mani pedi ladies, do you use the same products all through ? I love my OPI polishes but didnt have the whole OPI range to conduct the manicure with. ( previously looked at salon system and Kaeso) but thought this made me look to unprofessional if I didnt use the whole system that matched ?

Where do you work part time Babybird? maybe you could ask if you could put some leaflets out there?

Im going to be helping out in a salon part time so im hoping that some of my new clientele can come from there ! fingers crossed! im sure it will all come through eventually ,Do you offer certain packages? maybe a mani and pedi and a certain price for a set period of time? Im thinking of offering a free tiny cuticle oil when they have thier first manicure / gel polish with me. Everyone loves a freebie! x

I regulary have reduced price treatments, hadnt thought of doing price for both tho. I work in a police station so I'm not allowed to advertise there, but I'm on all the local community sites etc. I take cards to the toddler group I go to and have had a bit of interest from there. Just a bit frustrating as ideally I'd like to be able to do it full time. Re mani/pedi I use opi polishes and skin truth cuticle cream, soak etc. I dint think people really notice if it's not all the same system (unless in industry themselves). I personally think it looks a bit random if you have lots of different brands of polishes mixed in rather than the other products that the clients won't really take much notice of?!! I'm so scared of cuticles at the moment!!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
