Hello all,

I have been a nurse for many years and have recently done both basic and advanced training in botox and dermal fillers as a means of moving into something new. I have set up a website and facebook page (which I haven’t really begun to advertise as yet), and was wondering whether I might be able to get some advice from some SkinGeek friends :)

I have spent a lot of money and risked quite a lot in trying to move into this industry and I am finding that business is not quite as brisk as I had expected, despite the fact that all my treatments have been very well received and clients always return, often recommending friends.

Can anyone with experience in the industry give me a few pointers as to the following:

1. What is the best way to drum up business? I am finding that botox isn’t something that is ‘shareable’ and ‘likeable’ like may other products on Facebook, Twitter etc, as many people don’t want others to know that they’ve had work done.
2. Is a system where I can collaborate with hairdressers, nail salons etc and given them a % for every client that they recommend/allow me to treat in their premises feasible? What % is the industry standard? Does this not come with risks as to insurance etc on their part?
3. If such collaboration isn’t the best way, are there any other ways to increase trade that would be good for somebody starting out?

Many thanks for your help,

X
