Hair competition theme!!

Im an apprentice hairdresser and the college im at is doing competition and the theme is 'evening', everybody is doing red carpet and prom but I want to do something really different where I can get creative but I have no ideas what so ever! Any help and ideas would be really appreciated, thanks xxx

Off the top of my head...for something a bit different how about:

Night fever - full on disco/glam/80s hair/afro's
Vampires - gothy dramatic look.

Flowers or plants - deadly nightshade (for some reason I thought this was a Batman villain, but that's Poison Ivy), but something really colourful and out-there would be cool.

Have a look at some celeb hairstyles - people I find have cool, interesting hair - Gwen Stefani - her Harajuku look is amazing.
Gaga's wigs and look are inspirational.

With 'evening' you could be inspired by 'night' and therefore go dark and gothic? .. Big hair with back combing, black pieces, crimping etc.
Or you could be inspired by 'dreams' with it being evening and incorporate delicate lights and curls etc. I did dreams for a competition once and had little fibreoptic lights in amongst the hair that I did! It was a real focal point for wow-ed people!!
Other than that, I suggest you flick through mags for inspiration
