HI, this might sound strange.....me passing comment as its not the same....I have had major dermatitis for years - to the stage where I had to be put into hospital as there was the danger not only the skin but also the organs reacting.....yes, I know dermatitis and psoriasis are not the same....in some ways they do seem to react opposite and in some they seem to be similar.

I have been sent to a cure for a few weeks where I got prescribed a special sunbed for daily treatment - and yes I know that there is bad publicity but the use of a sunbed can be very positive! For once you know what type and amount of rays you are letting onto your skin unlike the real sun where you just dont know what the rates are like on any day given. In addition to that you have a fixed dosage and not like people baking in the sun.

If someone goes on holiday and plonks on the beach at 9am staying throughout the most intense hours till 5pm then they really shouldnt worry about the sunbed as it cant do any damage at all compared what they have just put their body through.

UV light in the right dosage can do wonders and help not only the skin but also to relief stress and achieve a sense of wellbeing which can be one of the reasons for all skin problems - unfortunately we dont seem to have the "thick" skin we would need to shrugg off all the stress and problems off everyday life - seems we are very sensitive and caring people......

I personally would recommend a sunbed if you feel it does you well, of course only in a low dosage and as long as you dont stress your skin even more.... it might actually help you in more ways than one....

Another thing that helped me immensely was going to hypnotherapy - i know this sounds weird and some of you might roll their eyes but a major part of the skin problems is psychologically based and there might be things going on in your mind that you dont really notice or are conscious of....in hypnotherapy you will be amazed at what comes out - it is hard work and throws you sideways for a while but the end is defenetely worth more than you think! It helped me sort a few things that i wasnt even aware of and funnily enough my skin healed and I was even able to eat the things that I have been allergic to before (and knock on wood until today I have been able to coope and live my life as I have always wanted to)

Isnt it funny that the skin problems we have are bad enough and make you suffer enought but the way other people look at you is much worse as it makes you feel so small and embarrassed and wanting to hide?
I could go on forever .....but

I hope you can find something that helps you too and if you need any help let me know.....all the best

I never thought of hypnotherapy but anything is worth a go. I know my main trigger is stress and at the moment im stressed to the hilt as my dad has terminal cancer and we have been living in the hospital while hes been getting chemo.
Oh and coffee is a big no-no but im an addict lol

I have a few clients with severe psoriasis.... and I have them using Footlogix for cracked heals..... it's AMAZING!!!.... and that's the word my clients used.

Here's what has worked in our family... children take 2000 mg of Evening Primrose Oil/day and adults take 4000 mg of Evening primrose Oil/day. We did half in morning and the other half in the evening. You need to give it about 5 to 6 weeks to see results, take it everyday. The only side effect which may affect some is runny stools. Ask your pharmacist or dermatologist about it. We have also used Borage Oil with the same results. We have used it for years!

Oh, sorry to hear about your dad - yes i would think that is definetely in connection with your psoriasis and its difficult to beat that at the moment, but I believe the hypnotherapy might also help you to "build a shield or thicker skin" to protect yourself a bit of things going too deep under your skin. I know its impossible at the moment with what you are going through as this is a very intense and emotional time but hopefully it will help you in the future. Not sure how it works here but when i had my treatment years back it was even covered by the nhs which was a big relief as paying expensive treatments doesnt necessarily help to get rid of the stress!!! All the best and let me know if I can help with anything else?
Cheers

Hi all!
My husband has psoriasis and when we moved in together I set my mind to easing his pain.
I tried aromatherapy witch helped a lot ( lavender) but didn´t clear it all up.
One night he was complaining of the itching and I was really tired. Too tired to start mixing oils together. I rubbed on some really strong (96%) Aloe Vera cream and the itching disappeared. All was well and we had a good night sleep. The next morning the psoriasis was almost gone. He put on the same cream for two (!) days and the whole thing just disappeared! He has been using it for 10 yrs now as soon as he feels a little itch and he never breaks out!
This is something I really recommend, but be careful what kind of AV cream you choose because not all of them are as potent as they claim!
Good luck!

Hi, I work in a sunbed shop and we get lots of people who suffer come up and use the beds, they only use them for this reason not for a tan, once they have it under control they come down once a week if that, they all say how well it works.
good luck:)

I have met many people that their dermatologists have recommended the use of a sunbed for treating psoriasis. My sister is even using this method for her eczema.

Hi,
Thankyou for your message regarding psoriasis!

What make of the creams should I purchase, where from and are they expensive??

Angie x

Sorry it has taken time to reply, no the products are not expensive, they are algologie.

pm me for details

hI there

I would recommend Chamamile essensial oil one drop mixed with carrier oil the amount will depend on the coverage you need it for.

I personally would,nt recommend sunbeds may dry the condition up but there is the cancer? risk factor too the sunbeds they have in the hospital are PROFESSIONALLY USED FOR THAT PURPOSE ALONE.

someone i know who suffers, uses a sunbed like machine at the local hosiptal. Maybe a short course on the sunbed might help

Hi guys,
I have had psoriasis my whole life, although I dont suffer too bad nowadays. I had a break out a couple of years ago due to my partner having a stroke, but it cleared up quite quickly. As some of you know I used to live In California, when I came back to England I decided to ship my therapy lights back here. (These lights are not the same as sunbeds)'
Just an offer, if anyones in the area, you're welcome to come by anytime to use them, they clear up psoriasis very quickly.

Hi Wendy,
I have used therapy light treatment in my local hospital, after my 3 months of treatment they never offered me anymore!! Its clearing on my legs (slowly) but it leaves horrible white patches, and Im not sure what to use to help clear that, Ive heard BIO-OIL helps!!!

hi Angie,

I remember the white patches well, My tummy n chest used to look like a map after the rash disappeared. But eventually the colour tone evens out back to normal.
Another thing I found works is Diprosone cream for body and Synalar gel for scalp, both available from your gp. Use both very sparingly and rub in well!

I get it in my scalp, on my legs and elbows and forarms. I have used sunbeds to clear it up, my steroid creams and at the moment i am using E45 moisturising lotion and oilatum. It will clear up for a while then come back with a vengance.

I have been using for about 18 months Elixea by Moor Spa & I would suggest you try the Elixea products. At home you could soak in the herbal bath then use the body lotion or skin balm and on a daily basis drink the herbal infusion..theres no taste but I admit it looks strange so I drink mine in orange juice. These products are anti-inflammatory & naturally detoxifying, they are used in clincs through Europe & hospitals in Austria for psoriasis, arthritis & muscular aches. If you are lucky enough to have a therapist near you then you would benefit from the body wrap, this is the mud painted on you and you are wrapped up warm so the moor treats your skin. if you have psoriasis on your face they have excellent products for that too. Tel Jonathon 01223 242242 or look on the website Oshadhi you won't look back it's wonderful stuff...I could write all day!

I read an interesting fact about skin cancers and psoriasis. Apparently people that have psoriasis have a lower incidence of skin cancer than people without it.
They think that some how with the cell changes that happen in psoriasis it offers a protection to UV light. I'll just add that I'm not saying everyone should go and fry on sun beds willy nilly, but I thought this was very interesting.:)

my GP has just asked me to try this new cream called
dermovate clobestasol propionate.
it cleared my psoriosis in a week!

Don't let ANYBODY fool you. There is NO cure for psoriasis!
It is, at the moment an incurable disease.
I have had this problem for 35 years and it has affected my life to the ultimate.
I have grown to live with it...some years better than others.
Don't spend your money for treatments or drugs for a long term effect because NOTHING works.

Read this book SUNBATHING NAKED by Guy Kennaway. ISBN 9781847670458 (a fellow sufferer) and accept that you have psoriasis and adjust your life accordingly.
If you have it you have it!
It's not life threatining .....it's just blumming horrible for the sufferer.

You are who you are. Your skin is just your skin....it's who you are that counts.

Forget the therapists who say they can cure this problem.....It can't be cured. It goes of it's own accord... If Ever. Ask any docter...Even they are baffled by it....Read The Book.

Sorry to sound negative but its just like Herpes......It's for life, and don`t let the Quacks tell you otherwise.

Look at all the posts.
Every doctor, Every Therapist says do this or do that. You end up getting fed up with it all. Accept it and get on with your life WITH psoriasis.
READ THE BOOK

I agree and like with Asthma, Dermatitis and a lot of other things there is no complete cure but there is different degrees of severity and how you can live with it.

If there was no cure for those illnesses I wouldnt be here anymore as I was suffering very badly but thank god I have found a way of adapting and doing things that helped me and my skin to recover and "knock on wood" I have not had any problems for about 8 years now!

I believe most of us can find something that helps and soothes the accute symptoms it is just a matter of finding out what it is - some will react well to creams, some will react to certain ingredients or therapy depending on what is triggering the outburst and the hope for all of us is to find something that helps. We all know its never gonna go away but just the hope to find something that helps and soothes or improves the situation and makes life that little bit better is worth all the hopes!!!!

I have found something that helped and so have many others but if you havent dont give up! Try to accept it and live with it but still be open for suggestions of others and you might find something that gives you relief and even if it is just a tiny bit.....every little helps!!!

hi guys

i suffer from psoriasis too but just at times of stress, and i have recently had a bout all over my body small red dry patches.... have had for a couple of months and then i started doing acadamie spray tans and had one myself, within a couple of days the red patches went white and then couple of days later disappeared altogether. Now i thought could be a fluke so i did my neice who has severe psoriasis all the time and in hughe patches and hers HALVED!to what it was before the spray tan within a couple of days and again lost alot of the redness.

I want to give her another spray tan to see if it clears up some more?
