Hi Everyone, I am in abit of a pickle and really confused . I would like to book onto a training course for eyelash extensions, but have no idea who to go with. I have researched all the main ones and have trailed through old and new threads on Salon Geek, now I am really lost!!
I am not asking for anyone to tell me which company to go with for training and supplying equipment, but just your opinions would be fantastic.
I would really appreciate all comments good and bad.

Hi,

I've been looking into doing an eye lash course too, and have also been asking around as to what is a good course to do. So far A LOT of people have recommended the Pinewood Studios, so i'm swaying towards doing my training there. I'm also swaying more towards that course because i actually have my eyelash extensions done by someone who was trained by them, and i do love the way she does my lashes. Also you can buy all of the equipment from them too! fab, training and buying equipment in one place. Obviously this is only my opinion and i haven't done the course yet, but i have only heard good things about them. Good luck in trying to find the right course! - its always so hard choosing where to go!

Good luck! xxx

Hi, thanks for the info. I did look at Pinewood and agree it does look good. Really appreciate your opinion
Good luck to you too

I did mine through the Carlton institute. It was with ah francis. Well worth the money it's a brilliant course!

Hi Shezlar

I am hoping to book lash training soon and like you am researching which company to go with - if we are near each other perhaps we can become practise buddies if we aren't too far from each other, where abouts in Essex are you? PM me if you are interested? I am near Stansted Airport so Herts/Essex borders.

Hi there

I recently trained in eyelash extensions with flirties in essex.

I cant say if it was better or worse than the other companies out there, because i've obviously only tried this one! I was very happy with my choice though and i'll explain why i went with Flirties.

- The customer service has a great reputation, and having spoken to both the company owner on SalonGeek in the past, i knew they were extremely helpful people.
- I was the only person being taught on the day so i got the full attention of the trainer (i think they will take a maximum of 2 people on a flirties course, compared to some courses who have 6-8 people)
- Its not a pass on the day course, you have to complete 4 case studies after you leave which means you are still in contact with your trainer recieving help and advice on your progress while you practice your new skills.
- The flirties adhesive (the most important part of your kit) is very highly recommended and i wanted to start with great products.

Hope that helps with why i decided on Flirties. I think you get a feel for certain companies and one might jump out at you and catch your attention, but try writing a little check list of what you expect from the training and check they tick the boxes for you.

Good luck choosing and good luck with it once you've picked  xxxx

Thanks for the info Miss Owen, am off to look at their website now
xxxx:hug:

Miss Owen thank you for your response this was really helpful, can I be saucy and ask how much you charge for the initial eyelash application. Again I have been told by friends that they get theirs done for £40.00, I thought this seemed abit low.
Thanks
:)

I'm still finishing the case studies for my training, on my lovely guinea pig friends, which i'm not charging for. I've just sent the last one in actually! But i have my prices set ready for when i get my certificate.

I'm charging £40 for a full set (around 80-100 lashes) for the first month then it will be £70, and £25 for a half set (around 40-60 lashes) going up to £40 i think.

If your friends are getting it fairly cheap (i know it depends on area) it might be worth asking them if they know how many lashes they are getting for that price. I know some companies teach that 30 lashes is a full set, so it varies alot. xxx

Thanks, I was thinking about £60.00 for a full set and then charging £12.00 per 15 minutes for infills. (This seems to be abit under the going rate where I live) Just worried that if I start low when I put my prices up people will moan and whinge, if rthat makes sense.

I'm happy charging less while my speed and skills are still behind average but i will make sure its listed as an introductory offer until a set date.

I'm not doing any offers on my infill prices so those that return for regular maintenance wont see a hike in prices at any point. It will just be the first month worth of full sets (while i'm gaining experience) will be a little cheaper.

You're right though, if you start out cheap then try to do a sudden rise, you'll probably getting some moans and drifting customers for a while. Best to start as you mean to go on xxx

I trained with lash fx at a place called wives and girlfriends in romford, the course was only £99 (on special offer) and had to buy starter kit for £150, The kit i got was great, lasted ages, glue doesn't go tacky through a full set appointment, tweezers are amazing, I couldn't fault anything! x

Hi everyone,

Really appreciated all the comments on this thread. I am going to seriously think about all options and have a good look around PB on Monday.

I trained with the Beauty Academy, and to be honest I didnt do much research just booked and went. Big mistake!

Your doin the right thing by researching cause the other trainers seem more in depth and not just happy to hand you a a certificate with a half hearted starter kit at the end of the day.

I trained at the beauty academy (one of those last minute deals) for uv gel nail course...
Also a big mistake and waste of money :(
It's worth spending alot of time researching and not (like me) getting exited and booking things straight away x

Hello Geeks! My first post. :)
Has anyone trained with Lash and Brow Academy?? What are your thoughts please...

I trained with the lash and brow academy and had to re-train. They are also called 'threadingacademy' and tend to come at the top of searches and the website looks good. As previously stated it's best not to get too excited (as i did) and jump straight in as looks can be deceiving. The best thing to do is what you're doing now....research, research, research. When you get good feedback then my advice is to look at those companies, weigh up cost, location etc and then you'll be able to make the right choice. Good luck.

I did call the Lash and Brow Academy. The phone was answered with a 'Hello?'. I had to confirm that I'd called the right number. The person on the other end of the phone was not forthcoming with information and sounded like she couldn't wait to get me off the phone. I've had no follow up calls like the other companies I've called.

Pants! Won't be training with them then!
