Salon owners should be aware that this also includes those who are classed as “self employed” when they clearly aren’t. If they are working on your salon with your rules, your timings, treatments and customers and you are paying them a percentage of treatments, chances are, they’re not self employed. If they choose to, they can force you to pay them for all the hours worked at minimum wage minus what you have paid them for their percentage.

I’m sure @salonfrog can explain better but they’re cracking down on self employed therapists who are actually staff x
 
Thanks for this post, I have been enabled to report my ex employer for paying me under the minimum wage when I was an apprentice many years ago.
