I'd say on a busy day we get about 80 people in and on a quiet day approx 40.
We're open from 10am-9pm and we've got 3 beds and a sunshower.

Hope this helps. :)

Flippin eck thats good for 3 beds!!!!! Do you have other treatments in the salon that bring in custom or is it purely tanning? Thanks Mark x

No, we just do tanning. It's a long established shop though and we always keep our beds in tip-top condition and re-tube them when they need it.

Over the past 5 years there has been a substantial decline in the number of tanning shops..this has been due to a number of factors.

Firstly the rapid growth and over saturation of sunbed shops and secondly through media coverage on skin cancer issues which have been of concern due to over exposure by some has kept many users away.

That said those salons that have remained in business have picked up business from those salons which have closed...they have effectively managed to increase there revenue stream despite a shrinking market.

Legislation changes have gone some way in making the UV exposure issue better controlled and managed by those that provide this facility.

The north east area is the second largest consumer of UV lamps in the UK(after Manchester) so there certainly is a demand in your area....make sure however that there aren't to many salons offering this service to close to you.

A successful tanning salon is one that utilises good quality lamps and changes those lamps on a regular basis...in line with the manufacturers guidelines....this part of the business can be expensive so shop around for best prices on replacement lamps.

You will find that in a salon where there are a number of beds ardent tanners will be fully switched on to the issue of when beds have just been re tubed and will specifically use these beds as the UV output is higher on a new lamp than on an old one.

HTH and good luck

Thanks for that Collin, I totally agree with you-and have thought about it from both sides of the coin so to speak and if it was me as a client Id go that little bit further for 'new tubes/higher output'. So if I decided to go and get them Id definitely do it that way and ensure they were tip top ones x thanks for all the advice xx
