Hi
I am new to this site and wondered if anybody could help me. I have just arranged to rent a room in a salon, at the moment she is charging me 20% on each client I see due to the fact that it is very quiet but then we have to come to an arrangement about payment of rent. The room is the back of a hairdressing salon in a housing estate. Does anybody have any idea what I should be suggesting as a fare rent.

hi hun are you in the Cardinals?

I dont know much about this topic but I dont think I would be happy about paying rent AND paying a percentage....I would probably be trying to negotiate one or the other...and probably just to pay rent tbh, but it does depend on other things as well...like what is included e.g advertising, bookings, products etc is there anything included in the deal?

Not sure if ive replied correctly,

Yes, I have just started in the cardinals. First time on my own and finding it scarey but very enjoyable at the same time. The lady whom Im renting the room for is very nice and fair.

Looked at your web site - fab, did you do it yourself.

Hi Ana
At the moment I am paying a percentage as there are not many customers and then will change to paying rent. I provide my own products but use the salon to book. The salon owner has helped in advertising and promoting me. Just hope I can make a go of it.

i have no idea why i knew that i saw your post and eclipse came into my mind lol. I live in Hunslet.
i would make sure you agree on something and definatley get it in writing, i have just finished renting in a hair salon & i didn't strat with a contract it caused us nothing but trouble. People may have all good intentions but what i found was that we had different expectations of what is acceptable, what we wanted to achieve ect.

i paid 25% of my takings then she changed it to £100 a week which was too much, we went back to the 25% but it didn't work. I was in a busier location than you and had more space so hope this helps you. if you want to PM me id love to come see you i like to have a regular back massage and be happy to be helping a fellow geek xx

Hi Charlotte :) Lol It's Fran :)

I think c20% of your takings if fair for space rental when you are providing your own products.
