I'll work on the capping and on my latest one I wiped off the inhibition layer before applying colour to help stop it shrinking back. I'll see if I can get a pic of my nails look at the ends so you can see thickness and capping. Interestingly I never have a problem with my little or ring fingers. Although the same can't be true of my clients
I would shake very very well and apply very thinly, when I first used iLac on myself I had shrinking for the first time ever and I believe it has to go on a lot thinner than other products. The coats will be so thin that the first colour coat will appear very patchy but do not panick and put it on thicker this is normal for gel polish. I have not heard of the tapping technique so I can't comment. So if you try what Anna said about dehydrating, capping the free edge well before you coat the nail and applying thinner.. Even if you think it is thin enough with iLac you may be surprised! If the same is happening I'm happy to help, keep taking pics and try to get close up pics of the lifting and chipping :) don't be hard on yourself, it will all fall into place xx

What i have found with il....is to apply the base coat... very thin. ... very...... i wipe nearly all the product off the brush . .. and apply... keep going over and over the nail plate to spread the product..... now for me... the colours work best if you apply the first coat extreamly thin.... there should be hardly any colour on the nail plate.... then when you apply a slightly thicker 2nd coat the colour will pop...... .. works for me

Here we go. The little white patches you may notice on my ring fingers are glitter.

Thank you. Do you find just two coats enough?when I'm applying very thin coats I'm finding that it's still looking a little patchy

Does anyone have pics of the INK London LED lamp please, I'd like to see the back and inside if possible as I can literally only find the front images as listed on their site. TIA xx
Just wanted to apologise for hijacking your thread - sorry

It's hard to explain, I dip the brush in, then wiggle it out side to side, so I'm left with a small bead on the end only, and very little polish at the top of the brush, which otherwise will drain downwards and flood the bristles as you are applying.

I'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow for you! X
You read my mind, I was just about ask if you could. Thank you, I'd really appreciate that. I e got a friend coming in the morning, I'll ask if she minds if I take a pic at each stage.

Lol not at all, it's nice to hear tips and tricks for products you are using or planning to use xx

Ok, I did not forget, but I remembered kind of late, after dinner and after a glass of wine (apologies for the crap video)

I recorded a video of how I prepare the base coat brush (apologies for the crap link, but I don't have a YouTube account):
http://untoldnails.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_0092.mov

So you can see I firstly wipe the excess of the plastic bit, so it won't come flooding down. After that, I "wiggle" the brush out. The first attempt left a bit of a bead, which is too much base coat, so I go back into the bottle and gently wipe both sides of the brush, so I'm left with no visible bead, but a saturated brush. This will be enough for about 2 nails, depending on the size of the nails obv:)

Thanks Anna, really appreciate you doing that. I do just the same, if anything mine has slightly less on than yours. Here's some pics of yesterday's application. I meant to take one at each stage but forgot! The chocolate nail is mine and shoes a minor chip that happened yesterday evening. I'd appreciate any comments

Arghhhh! I actually think it may be that I wasn't dehydrating thoroughly enough. The nails I redid on Wednesday are holding out well. A couple of minor chips but I wasn't being really thorough, just doing more than before. The nails I did yesterday, pics above, I was really, really thorough, so hopefully they'll last. Thanks for all your help Anna, I'll keep you posted on how it's going.

I did but it came off, the cap that is, again I think it's cause I hadn't dehydrated enough. I just found out that a friend who I did on Monday, hers only lasted 3 days max with one coming off just a day later. Hopefully cause I wasn't dehydrating enough. I'm doing another friend tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

If you've used CND Shellac before, you want to apply the dehydrator just like scrubfresh, if that helps at all. X

I haven't, but when you say scrub I think I know what you mean x

2 coats is usually enough..... i posted a whike ago about inklondon ilac 1 being really patchy and see through . .. but ive been trying a different technique... thin basecoat .. 1st colour layer thin.... then a thicker one.... and it seems to work.... i also allow the colour or ilac to spread a bit... to level out.... not for too long or it will start pooling at the side walls...

I seem to have solved the lifting problem but I'm getting very minor chips and am wondering if this is because I'm applying it to thin. Also I was finding that 2 coats was giving a patchy finish so think I was applying to thin so funnily enough, I have literally just decided to do the same thing.
