I have no plans to change this to a trade only website.
I totally understand what you are saying, but I have not got the resources to police who is and who is not professional. (And within the uk anyone can open a shop and say they do nails without a qualification so who is to say who is and who is not a professional)

As a professional I hate when you are interested in something that you have to log in find the details it's like fort knocks getting into some professional websites (and I understand why they do this) but it really buggs me. I'm struggling to get people to find my website and order as it is without having to have them go through screening.

It clearly states on the product label "for professional use only" so if you are not a professional then you should not be using it .

I understand what you are saying, but if a client is going to do her own nails she will weather or not I make this a professional or trade only website, the product will be bought by professionals and then end up on ebay at an inflated cost. Biosculpture shellac gelish all those products have trade only websites and all of their products are readily available on ebay.

It is not long before the products will be available for retail anyway check out red carpet manicure ( the retail version of artistic colour gloss)

I am currently working as a consultant for a major European nail care manufacturer who is developing a retail one step gel polish that will soon be available on the high street

And I know of a product that is about to hit the shelves in the USA that is a very similar product to mine that is available for retail

I would not worry about your clients there are some who will always get there nails done professionally and there are some that will try to do their own nails but your skills knowledge and abilities will far out weigh them.

Look at the home hair care market there is everything you can imagine on the high street available for home hair colour and yet there are also 100 of hair dressing salons open and available offering colour services .

If you want to try doing your own nails you will do that weather or not, if you want to get hold of a product you will. I understand that I may be making that easier by being an open website but just be confident in your skills and abilities and the loyalty of your clients.

Sorry if this reply disappoints you, but the amount of none professionals who will access the product is minimal, it is currently being sold as and promoted as a professional product and the ingredients determine this, it's in professional forums and been seen in professional magazines. The public have very little access to it. However public promotion needs to take place in order for the public to be aware of the possibilities that are available to them at professional salons :)

Thank you for your reply Martin. I do agrre with you on most points to be honest. I think my main bug bear is the price being on display without having to log in or anything! Haha.

Won't stop me from ordering though as I know my clients wouldn't get the same result as me ;) just a question I wanted answering ;) xxx

I did my first Megamix client today. I used a glass dappen dish to mix which was absolutely brilliant, and an old Gelish brush from an empty bottle. The dappen dish was so much better than foil, which is what I used the first time. It didn't form a skin and stayed a nice consistency. I mixed with OPI Malaga Wine and it was a breeze. I found it much easier to apply than Gelish. I usually use Black Cherry Berry on this client which I find really streaky and usually needs 3 coats but with this Megamix I only needed 2.

I am very happy. Lets see how long it lasts on her now.

This is my first Megamix, Wildfire & violet pearl additive. I also used a dappen dish, a gel brush but would use an old shellac one in future as I more used to applying like a polish. I found it only needed two coats and although others said it was a bit thick to apply I didn't find it so at all, if anything I found it a little runnier than some of my Shellac!

It covered beautifully and gave me the exact same colour and highly pearlised effect I get from layering and because the colour is all the way through it shouldn't "wear" at the edges to show the red underneath, which always bugs me!

I'm not sure if you can see the colours too well in the pictures but its a much deeper, richer pink than Tutti Frutti (the one at the bottom).

My consistency was really runny too. (This is a good thing!) Perhaps because the dappen dish was freezing and the 17th century thatched cottage I was working in wasn't much warmer!

For now I just used my normal Shellac base & top but in future I think I'll try the Megamix ones.

I forgot to mention I also bought Martin's jewelled mixing stick, its like a miniature palate knife. It made mixing really easy and meant the product didn't get caught up in the bristles of a brush and it was great for getting the additive out of the pot too.

How many drops of each did you use, MM? And did you buy the pot or bottle?

Just bought mega mix in the bottle yay! I've gone for the bottle as I think to begin with I'll be able to better work out quantities (drop for drop). Ooooh I can't wait :)

I just poured. I've got the bottle but will get the pot next time. I poured an equal amount of each into the dappen dish. I need to get my quantities right as I had quite a bit of product left over, probably enough for another coat. I will know better next time.

I've got the pot and did 3 large drops of both MM & Shellac Wildfire, I used Martin's special mixing tool to get it out of the pot, which was easier than getting it out of the Shellac bottle. Then I just mixed in the amount of additive I needed so it was the right colour. This was enough to do 2 coats on 9 nails (but think it would have just been OK for 10, I only have 9!).

Another update everyone. My Megamix Nail wraps lasted approx 9 days and unfortunately started to chip. I think it's because my nails were too weak. I have tried again this time I have used a layer of Calgel as the base for some strength then used the Megamix over the top... Will keep you posted on how that works out. Had another play last week, this time with extensions, I used a Calgel base for strength then two layers of Megamix with OPI short story then a layer of Glaze. Added a little free hand nail art just in time for Valentines!!!!

12 days in here and still looking good other than growth gap!

Very impressed.

I just ordered some. So excited. I've been watching this thread closely and after all the fantastic reviews I had to get some. I can't wait to try it out with my additives.
