hi ladies, just after a bit of info really.

i have had a full head of micro ring hair extentions put in my hair around 8 weeks ago now.

i love them and find i feel better with them in ! over the last few days i have noticed at the root its becomming abit knotted and itchy?! which was worrying me so i decided to take them out! im at collage doing hairdressing and have been shown how to remove them iv also watched quite a few videos on you tube so i managed to remove them myself! :)

anyway the thing is do you think its best to let my hair breath for a few weeks before having them re applied im worried as my hair feels so thin now i dont know weather this is because im so used to it being so thick or weather its because iv actually lost alot of hair?

i need to get my hair cut and dyed again but im just worried that they are actually bad for my hair please can i have some views on this before i get them re applied xx thank you ladies xx

Hiya, did you not book in for a maintenance apt? Maintenance is required every 4-6 weeks to move the ring bk to the root and have any loose hair combed through, this would have made the extensions last 3-4months.

If you keep on top of maintenance they are the safest method on your hair, you can also have your colour done on your tsection at time of maintenance apt (assuming your extensionist is a qualified hairdresser)

Well I called her and said they has grown out a little bit and she told me I could leave them inn another 4 weeks which would have made it 3 months instead of 2 but maintenance wasn't mentioned to me :s I was just told I'd need them lifted after 6/8 weeks ??? X

eekk, 3 months without a maintenance apt! This is really bad advice, sorry to say :(
You must must have maintenance, lifted etc done between 4-6 weeks to ensure absolutely no damage is done to your hair and then after removal 3-4 months your hair will be beautiful and show growth.

Unfortunately this is a common problem I have come across with clients that have come to me after bad experiences ie hair thinning because they have been given no after care at all. Sadly there are some "extensionists" out there who are just interested in the big bucks of fitted then dont bother with maintenance apts because they cant charge as much.

I always stress to clients please please make sure your extensionist is a qualified hairdresser that has studied for 3 years to learn about hair structure, scalp conditions to identify to care for the hair as a whole and see you on the path to achieve naturally long, good conditioned hair.

Luckily this was your first experience and you havent gone too far down the line of damage, so be on the look out for a qualified hairdresser/extensionist.
Bonus they can do your colour and maintenance at same time!

Also it is very safe to have removal, colour and new set all done on the same day. Again as long as a good aftercare has been followed.
