Mirror nails - help!

ive been practicing (practising??) with Magpie Tiara before I offer to clients but they always seem to be really grainy.. I've tried on my toenails over a normal clear polish and they came out well (picture 1) but if I try over black gel polish and no wipe top coat (picture 2), they come out grainy?? I've tried doing 2 coats of Tiara, tried a 'wipe off' top coat but wiped without cleanse - tried everything and I'm stuck!!

Any advice?

I'm going back to the drawing board tomorrow and trying again!

If it worked over normal polish but not your gel polish then it's possibly the gel top coat you're using before or after applying tiara

Hi I struggled with the tiara chrome powder at first but I have finally cracked it .
What I did was apply a white base colour x2 then I got a lint wipes and rubbed sticky layer off and then lightly buffed the white gel polish ( helps with a smooth finish) then I cleaned with a lint wipe to remove dust.Next I applied a no wipes top coat / cured . Then applied the tiara dust powder using a eye shadow applicator . Next I applied no wipe top coat and cured. Once cured I applied another layer of tiara and then top coat and cure . Done it left a very chrome mirror effect and,my little boy said he can see his face lol x I found tiara better with white underneath. Hope this helps

I've been using Red Carpet topcoat - it kind of ends up looking like a distressed/rustic mirror haha

Scared to start with chrome tbh as peeps are having so many issues.

How much extra do you charge for chrome everyone?

I don't charge for chrome at the minute, I don't even offer it - determined to make it work first!

I think I've nailed it! (Pun intended!) I've used IBD gel polish, The Gel Bottle non wipe top coat, and a chrome powder from Wowcher of all places!
It just wasn't happening with Magpie Tiara.
The Gel Bottle posted a video today, as they're releasing they're own chrome powder tomorrow. And in the comments, it's mentioned that it's more about finding the right powder to go with your top coat. And Visa versa. So, for instance, Tiara seems to work well with NSI glaze and go and others. Whereas the powder I've found has worked really well with my Gel Bottle top coat. I think it's more about perseverance and trying different combinations lol

Hi no you don't see any white underneath , I used Two coats of tiara . I found using one coat of tiara on black , colours it would look grainy but using two coats it wasn't grainy . But the colour coats when you use two coats of tiara you don't see much of the colours . So I am just using tiara for a silver chrome effect and just brought some pink, blue colour chrome powder to try out . I know tiara can go with any colour but I can't get it to work , just with white it looks good .
