Hi there, me again, pondering things as usual, this time i am wondering/pondering about how i may melt my paraffin wax for man/ped treatments when i become fully qualified and start my mobile business, i was thinking that rather than lug another heater around for the paraffin wax i could firstly check that my client has a microwave and then bring along my p wax in little plastic bags with just the right amount of p wax inside for the treatment and melt it in its bag in a bowl in their microwave and go from there. Does anyone else out there do this? Any thoughts anyone? Or are there any of you that think this is a little unprofessional?
Any comments i would really appreciate, and if anyone else thinks its a good idea go try it!!
Cheers all
and many thanks

Txxx

oh and may i just add on that we have been trained to paint the paraffin wax onto our client's hand/feet with a brush

Hi,you can just buy another metal insert container(whatever you want to call it,lol)from Sally's or other wholesalers. You can use the same heater that you use for your waxing and have one insert for your wax and swap over with the paraffin wax insert.

I would heat it up at your house before leaving, then screw your lid on,pack in a box with equipment, towels around it so it doesn't fall over whilst driving, then as soon as you get to your clients house plug it in before setting up for the client,by the time you're ready to start your treatment the wax will be perfect temperature.Used to work every time for me when I was mobile.HTH

I think this sounds quite a good idea, i personally havent done this but have seen on here that quite a few techs have.

Hi if your going to try this way be really carefull, anything heated in the microwave will have hot spots where the temp will vary increasing your chance of burning. i would probably use the inserts for the wax pot as recommended earlier other than that have you thought about heated mitts/booties easy to transport and no mess.

I use heated mitts and booties now, just cant be doing with the whole paraffin wax thing anymore. Each to their own though.

Hi I do this mobile, I swap pots in my heater too. You do have to be really carefull as parafin wax gets so runny it is easy for it to slop about in the car. So don't heat it too much before hand. It is quite a messy treatment to do mobile. I have found putting the pot right next to the are to be treated dipping man sized tissues into the wax and wrapping them round the hand/foot then popping them into a plastic bag thing then into heated mits is good. Make sure you have massaged in some cream first, then when you gentl pull the waxy tissue off it comes off easily and stays in the bag. Hth. :)

ooooh thanks so much for you help and advice, its great to hear how everyone else does it and gets on, i didn't think about hot spots in the microwave, could be a disaster really couldn't it, i have some heated mitts and booties on the way, but i assumed i would also use them with the paraffin, perhaps i should just use a really nice moisturising mask. Many thanks again T xxxx

You can actually buy a tub (the same as a wax tub) to put into your wax heater. I think salon systems do one. For some reason it heats up quicker than most. Then screw the lid on and you get no mess xxx

ooooo that sounds really good, thanks a lot xxxx
