Hi Ruth!

That's actually a really cool idea that appeals to me.
But,unfortunately, not likely
For one, I don't know anyone good in the area to do it.
For another, my family.... well... the trinity knot theme is gonna do their heads in as it is (they're not keen on my paganism). As it is, they're giving me grief over having a civil ceremony as opposed to a religious one.
I think it might blow their minds if I hennaed my arms too LOL

HOWEVER... I have been thinking on adding this as a service to my business for some time now. I've been researching it, quite a bit.
Maybe by then, I'll actually have some product and will have played a bit and I can do one on myself somewhere family won't see, but I'll know is there.:wink2:

Thanks for your input!!

That's a shame about your family not being keen on your Paganism :(

There's actually a really good henna artist in Montreal, Henna_index - she's done some of the best henna work I've ever seen.

Maybe you and your husband-to-be could hold a separate handfasting ceremony just for you and your friends sometime? That way, you could keep your family sweet, but also have a really nice Pagan ceremony that is right for you too.

Thanks for that info!! I'll be sure to check it out!!

Well, I'm pagan.
BUT my hubby is agnostic, and tries to ignore my paganism. He thinks it's sort of silly, but says "whatever makes you happy dear"
He's a very supportive sort of guy most of the time, but ummmm on this subject... it's like telling him you believe Aliens have landed:lol:
At least, he doesn't mind that I teach our girls about it. Mind you, I'm teaching them about multiple belief systems so that they can make their own personal and informed choices later. I won't lead them like blind sheep. But I DO hope they'll lean my direction with their beliefs.
But handfasting at a later date is an idea... maybe I can get him to understand what it would mean to me, and we could do that at a later date.

For our wedding, there will be a trinity knot cake topper, and we'll be wearing trinity knot pendants (daughters/flower girls, maid of honour & myself) and there's be a trinity knot on the invitations, it's even on my tiara for my veil, etc.. A little all over the place. He doesn't mind it, and says as long as I'm happy. If I'd chosen a pentacle, my aunt would have gone nuts (she's an uber bible thumper and thinks it's satanism:rolleyes:). I'm already the black sheep of the family

I'm off to check that link!
THANKS OODLES!!

How about Celtic Knot nail veneers?

Nail Veneer

I could also have a look around for you at the PB show at ExCel if it helps (it takes place March 2nd-March 4th which is just a week away).

Noodle,
what exactly is a 'nail veneer'? Is it like a water release decal?
It definately looks interesting, to be overlayed over a coloured french, or something like that. I dont think I'd do the entire nail plate surface, but I do like that design.

Yes, please do have a look for ideas and such.

Mercedes,
THANKS for the link

Much appreciated, ladies (and gents? not quite sure what I'm supposed to say?:o)

Keep up the GREAT work:green:

They look like transfers/decals to me ... take a look at the "How to Use" link for a step-by-step guide with pictures.

Sounds like an interesting mix! I come from a more traditional background myself; my Dad was a Unitarian minister so I was brought up in the Unitarian faith (essentially a free-thinking form of Christianity but that has more recently embraced a wider range of belief systems); on our wedding day, we had a church service at the Unitarian church in Shrewsbury (where Sonia and I were legally married), then a Pagan handfasting ceremony in our back garden in the afternoon (where we both wore wedding dresses and I married Sonia with me as Ruth). To us, that was the best of both worlds; I still have quite strong ties to the Unitarian church but am also quite Pagan in my outlook too.

I do like the common theme of the trinity knot though; I love the Celtic imagery; isn't there any way that you could blag to your parents that it's actually a Celtic way of representing the orthodox Christian idea of the Trinity? Would they go for that???

Being brought up Irish Catholic celtic symbolism was everywhere. Irish dancing dresses are covered in it, my uncle who is a priest has it all over his vestments. I am currently cross stitching a cushion using wool with a celtic knot design. I think it is one of my favourite types of art. The Book of Kells in Dublin is beautiful.

Any more ideas everyone??

Come on! We've TONNES of fabulous artists here, and TONNES of geeks with vivid imaginations.

PLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAASE

:green:

I have 2 ideas I think this would have to be just for your ring finger or it be to much:

1st idea - http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/bubbabinks/Anon/knot.jpg
Using the knot above you could either paint free-hand onto your nail or print and incase in gel or use a transfer and then take the outer part of the design and make it 3-D.
Does that make sense?

2nd idea - http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/bubbabinks/Anon/knot2.jpg
Paint free-hand or use a transfer incase in gel and then put little gem stones on the knot like above picture in your wedding colours.

I would only do this on ring finger and then maybe use clear tips on the rest and have french but with crushed shell on the free-edge in your wedding colours.
Does any of this make any sense?

V you any ideas? xxx

No ideas V, I really do not have a good imagination. However are you going to spill the beans on which Geek is going to your big day????

How bizarre!
I posted a reply and it dissappeared:eek:

I like the 2nd idea very much, since placing rhinestones is VERY simple for me to do on my wrong hand. And it would match my nails to my tiara/veil thingy.
Not sure re: crushed shell. Anytime I've done this, it's always thicker than I like

Plus, was kinda hoping you'd all have something for me that I haven't done yet.

Honestly, I would LOVE 3D acrylic art, flowers... and such.
But no one I know around here does it
Or the embedded variety of 3D, if that makes sense??
And I have absolutely no money, nor time to take an acrylic course right now. the money I set aside for my course has gone for the wedding...
So, now gotta wait another year before I do that.

And no, not letting the cat outta the bag about who's attending.
She can tell you herself.
Another clue..
Think south
:green:

Something like this or similar would rock my socks off (in appropriate colours, of course LOL)

Maybe the mystery geek that's coming to your wedding could do your nails for you?
An extra wedding present?

victoria, i can help you with that, i can make the flowers for you and send them to you to glue on.

i do it with my own nails sometimes. i form them on a curve so they lay flat to the nail .

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!!!!

I so love your two-tone flowers (double dipped, I think in the powder?)
They're LOVELY:!:

Ok, we seriously need some kissing Smiley's

Our Geeky mate that's coming won't be arriving soon enough to be able to do my nails. Also, I don't think she does 3d flowers, but can't be sure.

Plus with all the family coming from out of town, I'd have to get mine done about 4 days before so that I have time for them. Mind you, gluing flowers on wouldnt take too long, so that's something I could do the night before without taking the risk of putting them on too soon.

What an AWESOME AND FABULOUS offer!

Have I told you lately that I love you and all my other geeky mates?
