nail polish won't stay on no matter what I do.

Without attempting all options it would be difficult to say what would or wouldnt work, but I know that there is less lifting overall with the softer soakable gels than the non soakable type for alot of clients. But there are many many clients of the non soakable gels that have not lifting at all.

I do however feel that you could get polish to stay on her nails longer than a few hours with using the right prep methods before hand. Have you tried cleansing the nail plate with scrub fresh before the polish?

I am going to try the scrub fresh next time I see her and I will let you know if it works.
