Ive not heard of a name as such and I can't think of anything other than things like eye specialist, eye therapist etc but that would make me think of an optician lol.

With regards to clients going to a specialist and there being the demand for it I guess it all depends on what sort of area you live in. I would imagine this being popular in cities but in smaller market towns or the country I really can't see it being a popular choice.

Having said that I have a few clients that will only have their eyebrows threaded and specifically go to a brow bar within selfridges to have this done but they have all said if I offered threading they would come to me, sadly for them I have no desire to train in it !

Its a difficult one as I can see that in certain areas it may well take off but as Martin says not many people want to make multiple trips. I wouldn't dream of having my hair cut and coloured at two different salons as for starters I couldn't be bothered with the extra time it would take and it would cost more when you add on the petrol, parking etc not to mention with just a colour id have to pay extra for a blow dry whereas having it cut at the same time includes this.

Well honestly, thats a bit extreme isn't it, I don't think anyone would!

Lots of women only have certain things done aswell. I don't go and have any beauty treatments, but I have always had my nails done and have NEVER gone to a beauty therapist to have them done. Not only that but I have a career, I'm a wife & mother and have lots of other things that take up my time, so IF I did want to go and have my eyes done, a facial, some waxing, my nails, that would take up quite a long time. Women today don't have long periods of time free like that! Do they??

There is much more of a demand for specialists now than there ever was and from what I have researched, the ones who specialise often stay in business longer.

In the 13 years I've been in the industry I've found very few people only ever have one thing done - today for example I have a woman coming in for a pedicure, eyebrow tint & shape, another for a facial & half leg wax and another for some electrolysis, some waxing & a pedicure, and that's a typical day for me.

Those that do come initially for one treatment often end up trying other treatments as being good at one thing, such as eyebrow shapes, doesn't preclude a therapist from being good at other treatments. Rather once they realise you are good at one treatment they will often trust you to perform others.

I have yet to see where all these specialists are to be honest, except maybe a handful in large cities, and would be interested to see your research showing a plethora of a specialists outlasting the vast majority who offer a broad spectrum of treatments.

If I could go to an eyebrow specialist - I would. Eyebrows are so very important to the balance of your face. I think if you are really good at what you do, the clients will come.

My niece used to call eyelashes "eye flashes" - too funny!

From looking at those websites i saw...

how about Brow and Lash Stylist?

Errrrrrr sorry Im a bit confused, thats my point no-one would go for a cut and colour at seperate salons so my point was why would one go for an eyelash tint at salon X then a massage at salon Y and a pedicure at salon Z

Im not quite sure how you've taken my post and I apologise if I have somehow worded it incorrectly but the gist of it was most people prefer to get everything done in one place.

The majority of my clients don't just have one treatment they have a variety, so if they went to a self appointed 'specialist' they'd be going all over the place !

I like to think I specialise in the treatments I do anyway, if I didn't then I wouldn't offfer them.
