If you dam me your email address I have one that I used for my hairdresser - you would need to open it in word and change one or 2 things but it's easy enough.

@Haircutz you know legal bumf!

Has this been written by a solicitor etc? If not it won't stand up...

Hello. I would also really appreciate a copy too if you wouldn't mind please? Xx

My thoughts exactly.

Please make sure that your contracts are legal and relevant.

Changes in employment law mean that things may need updating.

There was an horrific story of a geek on here who's friend got sued by 2 ex employees - mainly because their contract was so full of loopholes.

It's worth asking around to see if anyone you know could cast an eye over it for you.

I'd have a quick check with your insurers. I'm with salon gold and have access to a website which lets me do contracts etc online just populating the fields I need, then it saves as a pdf to print off whenever I need. The added benefit is that you won't need to fork out for a solicitor every time you change something. (P.S. I may pay £10-£15 for legal cover extra that this may fall in as bonus with, but I get my money's worth!)

Hi did you manage to get a contract template as I also need one for an employed new member of staff, thanks

Hi Gemma I did would you like a copy emailing over? [emoji16]

Hi I've just employed my first part time hair dresser and am a bit worried as she was introduced and is a good girl, but not sure if she is doing wot I think she could be doing, as taking clients to hers than at the salon, plus she only lives a few streets away, she leaves to go home around 3.30 but when I have rang her she is always doing some ones hair. Is this a bad thing, I have not gave a contract yet as trying to source one if any has that would be help full, to take me out my stress. And for future ref is it better to have some one travel a bit to come to work...

Any one any contracts that could read and that would be help full. [email protected]

You definitely don't want your hairdresser doing salon clients at home. Is she employed or self employed? Do you pay her minimum wage and pay her tax and national insurance?

She was on trial for a week the started this week on books on minimum wage. But part time that's all she can do

Then no way should she be doing clients at home. Fine if she has a few existing clients but it sounds like she's using your salon to build her home clientele x

Alarm bells should be ringing for you very loudly here!

You need to get rid ASAP and employ someone who can work full time with a properly written clause about not poaching clients or working mobile. She's clearly using the salon to tout for business and will leave once she's built up enough clients.

Just ask yourself if you were in her shoes and could earn minimum wage whilst building up your clients and earning full profit from all the services you get outside of the salon, what would you do? She's not doing anything wrong but this will not benefit your business if she takes the profitable clients with her.

She's only been with you very briefly so you can sack her without any comeback at this stage.

If you want to employ a hairdresser, you won't get many decent one's willing to work for minimum wage, to be honest. If they're inexperienced, what will you do if they get into a pickle?

Alternatively, offer her a rent a chair option for a set weekly rent. Thereby, you get your rent, she gets to build her business in a decent salon and can refer her hair clients to you for their beauty services.

Can I ask what proof you have? I may have missed it but from what your saying there's no reason for you to think this other than her living close? I have always worked part time as I have a child, no parents to help with childcare ect. And I got to work whilst spending time with my boy! She may not even want to progress I've worked with girls for years who are happy on minimum wage with the odd friend on the side to boost their income as long as the bills are paid, they just don't want the progression. In every job I have had I have been approached by my clients in the salon to do home visits and have declined as they are the salons! Not all stylists are sneaky and trying to do one over on you, just be honest and ask "are they friends & family" if they are you do not have ownership of those clients they are hers. But also make it clear that if she does take any clients you will ask her to go! I do understand the trust issues salon owners have though, as there's not much honesty in our industry!

You can't just sack her on a whim... That's just not fair! I got sacked as the salon I was employed by thought I was taking clients (I wasnt) and when said manager approached the clients he was told they had asked me but I declined but he didn't believe me or them! He sacked me just after my mum passed away.... I spiralled into depression & debt and lost my house!! That job was keeping me going and they took it away from me on a whim! I later got an apology but I couldn't forgive!

I too would like a copy of the contract is it still available?
