I had a trade test today in a salon for CND Shellac, carried out on the salon manager. I did it how I was trained but at the end, she said for one of the CND services they provide, they don't carry out any cuticle work...!!? I would of thought this would be a crucial stage for Shellac?

It is but a lot of salons offer a file and polish service so no cuticle work [emoji15] stupid too me as if it goes over cuticle it will lift off xxx

Exactly what I thought!

it's a standard procedure here, to the point that if you want cuticle you actually have to ask for it!

I know that a lot of salons don't do cuticle work, possibly to reduce the service time???
I am fully qualified and a CND Master Painter. Cuticle prep is a key point in CND manicures, for both shellac and Vinylux.
A couple of months ago I carried out an experiment. I only get 7 -10 days out of my own nails due to them being soft flat & bendy. Every time I do my nails I do full cuticle work.
I continued to replace my Shellac every 7 days but I stopped doing cuticle prep.
I pushed the epinicium back but did not remove debris from the nail plate.
After week two I noticed increased lifting. By week five the shellac was peeling off in one piece from some nails within 24/48 hours. When I did my next set I was surprised at how much debris was removed from my nails.
I realise that we need to make our business' financially viable and I know how much materials, insurance, training etc costs (mine is a bit of a money pit at the moment), but I will continue to carry out full cuticle work as it does (in my personal oppion) make a difference.
