I currently offer gelish soak off gel polish which is very popular, I also offer nsi hard gel extensions natural or white tip and if my client wants a colour I use a normal polish or gelish, I don't have many regulars for extensions which is fine by me as I hate the maintenance, it takes me ages and I get covered in dust! So I was thinking about offering nsi secret removable gel extensions, therefore I would only be offering temporary extensions for holidays /weddings etc which I do get asked for, what do people think?

NSI secrets removable gel is just as strong as acrylic and last between 2-4 weeks (according to the website) so why would they be temporary extensions? I'm waiting for my trial kit to arrive as like you said the acrylic dust drives me mad and I hate the removal time. I'm personally used to the monomer smell now but it still takes others by surprise.

I've had the secrets gel on myself and it lasted just as long as L&P. You would still have the maintenance and filing though.

Ciderella 71 I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm looking in to doing my nvq 2 with Denise Wright who uses nsi and i would need to choose l&p or gel in very tempted with the secrets gel but would you say it's best to learn l&p first? X x

I haven't trained in gel yet but it was my preference to master L&P first. I'm hoping to do my gel trading this month however after trying both secrets and Cuccio (I use both brands) I've opted for Cuccio T3 led gel.

Hopefully others who are qualified in both can advise you further

Thank you I was thinking l&p have just ordered a trial kit for nsi and cnd as can't decide on training route x x

You'll get different views on here but both are very good qualify products and training etc. Perhaps look at their range of products and courses and see what meets your needs and future clients.
I found deciding on a brand very stressful but invested in Nsi and Cuccio which I don't regret. I try others but go back to them. I've recently tried and invested in cjp nail L&P and I'm very impressed. Just waiting on feedback from clients but I may eventually swap over completely. We'll see....

It really is stressful :) I did a terrible day course as so many have and felt so gutted I wasted that money so now I want to make the right decision. I've not heard of cjp can I ask why you are moving away from nsi? X x

I like to try new products occasionally if they get good reviews so I can offer the best service to my clients.

I find secrets as strong as balance. Maintenance you are still going to have to do the filing and it's not as quick and easy to soak off as gel polish, so still requires filing. I switched to it as I hated the manual removal with hard gels, not many of my clients have removals but the ones I have done have taken me longer than soaking off L&P.

I wouldn't look on it as a temporary weekend thing but it is a good product.

I opted to train in wraps, L&P and gel as I wanted to have all the tools available to me to be as versatile and adaptable as possible.

Great thanks x x

Sorry me again I would need to pick either l&p or secrets gel for my nvq would I be crazy to pick the gel? It lasted as long as l&p you said?? Thanks guys

That's a "Daddy or chips" question!

If I really had to pick between L&P and gel I would probably go L&P but it really is a personal preference. Whichever you pick I would say it would be a huge benefit to invest the extra time and money in the other system too.

Speak to you tutor, they should be able to advise you on which to go with. My niece is currently doing her NVQ and they have to cover wraps, gel and L&P.

Haha really that sounds like much better value for money. Brilliant thank you!!

She also got Govt funding for hers. As well as the 3 systems it also covers gel polish, nail art and e files. It's been hard work for her though.

Your niece is doing an NVQ level 3 - which involves a minimum of 2 enhancement modules.

An NVQ level 2 diploma is 1 enhancement module so you have to choose a specialism.

I'd choose L&P. It's more well known, it's stronger & it will suit most people. I know a couple of people who have done the NVQ with Denise and you're in safe experienced hands :)

No soak off builder gel is as strong as a hard buff off gel and it's nowhere near the strength of l&p. No product like that exists. If there were a soak off gel as strong as buff off hard gel we'd all give up on buff off gels! You have to sacrifice strength for the porosity of being able to soak off.

A hard buff off gel is necessary to make longer length enhancements. Soak off hard gels have their limitations and are suitable for short to medium natural length enhancements. This is the case in any brand - bio, secrets, skyscraper, brisa lite, calgel, cn gum gel.

Any enhancement product should last until infill. That's about structure, application and prep so you would expect a soak off builder to last just as long as hard gel or l&p but you are more limited in the shapes and lengths you would create with it.

Great thanks for the advise everyone now to choose cnd or nsi aaaarrr to hard :)
