hello :)

can you kind hair geeks help me again please?

It is possible that I may be able to transfer onto the 1st year of a 2 years nvq2 course (transferring from my vrq-2) and I am stressing about being able to catch up with the people on the course.

Can anyone please tell me what the units covered in nvq2 - I don't know if it is usually done over 2 years or 1 year but mine will be over 2 years.

I still haven't made up my mind what too do,but it I know what is covered it might help.

I know I'm going to struggle catch up with the cutting as this is why I have asked to change colege, because teaching has not been the best.

If you can help, I will really apreciate it. thank you x

This is a really good site - it has nvq mapping for all levels, so it should provide you with all the information you need. Hth xx

Cutting:
One length, short grad, long grad and uniform layer...twice. And aslo have a fringe and curly hair.

Colouring:
Full head permanent
Full head semi
Full head quasi
Woven foils
Cap highlights

Perming:
3 perms, covering all the ranges

Shampooing unit: self-explanatory

Set and dress hair:
Hot rollers
Brick wind
Directional wind
pin curls
finger waves
barrel curls

Style and finish hair:
Tongs
Blow-dry
Straighteners
Back-combing
Back-brushing
Hair-up
Health and safety: self-explanatory

That’s all I can think of atm, but its near enough the same as the VRQ's.

Wow It seem a lot written like that. I don't know how realistic it would be to swap at this late stage. I mean I will have to do everything and get up to scratch with the others:Scared:
Thank you for your help :)

I don't think this is necessarily correct.

Looking on the City & Guilds website, their level 2 Womens hairdressing seems to only require 3 cuts, 4 colour/bleach, 2 perms ...

KayaPapaya, you should ask the new college for a copy of the course handbook or something similar.

If you're transferring to the first year of a two year course and you are properly motivated, then I don't see why you shouldn't be able to catch up.

Just go for it!

Nope it's 8 cuts. No men's hair at all. 2 short grad, 2 long grad, 2 uniform layer and 2 one length. Also the ranges have to be covered with a fringe and also with curly hair types. Look on the habia website, that's the national awarding body for hair and beauty.

Thank you all again for your replies. TBH it all seems a bit overwhelming.
But I will be in touch with the new college to see what they say.

To be honest I had a meeting with my existing college head of year and explained the situation. She was horifeid that I had not said anything to her about the teaching. She will be having words with the other teacher and said wait and see.
Apparntley practical teacher is ignoring training methods she is supposed to use like presentations on computer then stepbystep guides have been made for us :( so we will see what happens.
I'm glad I spoke up but worried what may happen in my next lesson.
