So is this just another product selling exercise?

So is this just another product selling exercise?
nvq is assesing,( seperate from teaching)conversion is another subject all together?

I asked about the nvq and told her i had a diploma but would love to do the nvq course and she said that i would be better off with the conversion course and the products they use are odyssey and they are a leading compeny from australia, they are sending me what they sent every one else but said if i do the free conversion course they expect me t buy the kit at the end of the day and that because they offer so many colours it a fab product. i think it is about there products to be fair, nothing in this world is free eh:cry:

OK am I on the right track here??
The training is with Odyssey??
It's free to train but you have to buy the kit on the day?
Am I right??

well i have rang the number at the begining of the thread and that is what they told me can not comment on what others have been told, but if you ring the first number ask them what product you would be using. mmm strange if you ask me, was considering going as not far from me, but not so sure now all sounds really dodgy:irked:
i asaked about the nvq they said conversion and 99 pound to buy kit at end. i said so i do not have to by the kit if not want they said they expect you to so basically the course and starter kit 100 pound.

Surely if you are going for NVQ2 assessment and are already a nail professional then you will be assessed using the products you currently use.....or are they saying that you need to change your product range to be assessed?

I must admit to only reading about 75% of this thread, can someone clarify for me? If you do a 'conversion/training course' you pay for your kit and get the 'conversion/training course' free?

CND/ Creative currently offer exactly the same thing (as probably most other nail companies do I'm sure), the kit from Creative has approx £165 worth of product and your day's training too for £99.95.

So.....the only difference is....you get an NVQ at the end of the course? How does this help you as a nail tech? Does it make you better? Safer? More marketable? There is no 'additional' training, only assessing?

What is Free?
Someone clarify this for me please.
The word "free" always seems to have a catch doesn't it?

nothing is free obviously, the course is but you have to pay 100 pound for the kit at the end of itx

So is it a course with Odyssey or not?
Whats so different about this course?
xx

When i rang about the free nvq l2, i was told that if you have already done the training for everything that was needed to be assessed for l2 then NO additional training was necessary, you can just do the assessments !
I think from reading this thread that they now must offer training aswell,!!?? for those who maybe need extra training in order to complete their assessments, however i am not certain.
Maybe someone from the company involved in the free nvq L2 assessments will be able to clarify.
I think maybe the two things are getting confused ???

I will ring them tomorrow and see if i can find out some more information on the training and the nvq.

It will be worth asking if you are assessed using your own products and with real clients.

A genuine assessment should not be product linked and is not valid if not carried out when providing a service with real paying clients

Great info, my beauty therapist wants to go on a nail course, I shall call tomorrow.
Thanks

If you are a nail professional already and looking to gain NVQ2 in addition to your current certificates, switching product should not be part and parcel IMO as you should be being assessed on your skills not your product?

I know I've quoted myself but looking for clarification as the thread seems to have gone off track and has now become about a product as opposed to NVQ related!

Hi all,
So does this mean I need to do training first then apply for the free NVQ assessment?
If I go to college for the training, I need a recognised manicure and pedicure qualification to get in to the entry level to do it. :irked: I can't travel far so where can I do this? I live near Oxford btw!
Thanks all!

hi i am not qualified and currently training with EN...i spoke to the lady on the phone and told her that, and she didnt say i had to be qualified to do the nvq.
She sent me an application form, i sent it back but not heard anything since..just patiently waiting...has anyone had any response after sending in their application?

Candidates can use there own product as this would be an assesment and is not product led or trainning led.

candiadates can be asseseswith in there own working envioment assusring that there fee paying client could be used for there quality audit assesment.

you are right cathie the thread is changing. Your comment s are correct.

Assessing is assessing trainning is trainning all are seperate and should be kept seperate. Thy thereads is going a little off track and could possible be misleading to some. as you have pointed ouit cathy.

you will need to have some level of skill to comlete any nvq assessment, i would suggest that you have a look on the habia website to see if you have all the knowledge and skill that will be as required to competly complete all of the units. I am sure t centrix will be happy to advise if you get a little confused?
