Hi,

I applied uv gel extensions today and customer doesn't like the colour (rightly so, as it's awful!!!!).

Can I file this off and apply a new colour or do I need to completely soak off the whole extension and start again? The tips etc are perfect so I'm reluctant to soak it all off.

Please help!!! Thanks

Are your gel extensions not a hard gel?

I assume you mean you applied hard gel enhancements and finished them with gel polish? If so just buff off the offending colour and replace. Please make sure you charge for this though!

Yes exactly what i was going to say, make sure you charge! Its not your fault the client now doesn't like the colour

It's a uv soak off gel, the brand is cuccio. So not a hard buff off gel. Well the colour to be fair is kind of patchy and that was after 4 coats!! I had to run for a personal appointment so she is coming back Sunday. So I can buff off and apply a new colour rather than soak off the whole enhancement? Thanks X

I don't use Cuccio products, but so long as the strength and structure of the basic enhancement isn't compromised then yes, simply buff and replace colour.

To be perfectly honest i can't comment as i haven't heard of a soak off gel being used for extensions, but hopefully some other geeks can advise better on this brand, hope you get it sorted!

Thanks all. I'll buff off and hope for the best..... I'll apply another stress cross just to be safe before applying the colour. Thanks all X

Do you ladies apply gel polish over gel extensions? I wonder whether this might be a quicker fix, post buffing? I will obviously ensure I have my clear gel underneath for strength. Just wondering whether this is possible? I've never thought about it before!!xx

Yes you extend first using l&p or a gel which is recommended for extensions (they're not all suitable) then finish with gel polish. Most brands will not require a base coat over extensions x

Assuming you've used a colour uv gel? I would use a thin clear uv gel as a Base first so that if you want to change colour then you can file down to the clear otherwise the colour will still be there? Easier to use gelpolish instead over a clear uv gel

Thanks ladies. And yes used a colour uv gel X
