Buy Pedicure Stool from Beauty Express

These seem to be reasonably priced and small enough if you don't have room for a nice spa style chair. Do any of you use this style? If so, how do you get on with it?

It looks a bit odd in that I imagine to be looking at the sole of the clients foot, which is no good for working on the nails! Is it a comfortable and workable product worthy of consideration?

I tend to have the client sitting on a chair with a comfortable back then I am sitting on a very low stool to the ground. Like a child's step up stool I think the factory shop has a small black one for under a tenner. I then place the clients foot on my lap as its easier to lift the foot up to rasp and I have a better angle over the top to paint the nails.

But that's what works for me, I know many others that also sit on a chair the same height as the client.

X

I am a mobile tech and I have 2 small collaspable stools, one for me to sit on and one to rest the client leg on.

Its good for doing pedi work to get the right angle, and with a little adjustment you can place their foot flat to be able to paint their toes.

My 2 were off ebay.

I haven't tried that specific stool but in my honest opinion - it looks like a back-breaker! Try before you buy I say!! I'm waiting until Pro Beauty in March now - as I too am looking for a pedicure solution! But specifically for one that won't break my back!! My back just can't take it anymore!!

I have that exact stool and it is not a problem for me or my back because you are working with both your feet flat on the ground and the client's foot in a high enough position for you not to be leaning over (iykwIm).

My clients sit in my normal manicure chair which is a high backed executive chair that is fairly high off the ground.

I can do rasp work with their leg on the rest and they put their foot flat on the leg rest for painting. I can also place my Led lamp over their flat foot on the rest and aim my Minx lamp directly over their foot.

It works really well for me, plus it is easy to move out of the way when not in use.

I think its a good all round option when space and finances are tight.

Thank you, I've been looking at how to position the foot to be able to do all that's required and I do need to be sitting on something.

I sat on the floor when I made my husband be my guinae pig and it wasn't very comfy at all.

I have a stool just like this! I love it highly recommend! x

Hmmm interesting :) I have been looking at different ways of carrying out a pedicure treatment without it breaking my back and so far the only successful way has been to have the client lying on the couch with myself sat at the end - that way my back is straight throughout! :)) I have worked in plenty of salons who do it the foot in lap way, or place a foot stool between the client and therapist. I cannot stand doing it this way as my back is literally folded in half for an hour!! I have never tried doing a pedicure on a stool like this - I just dismissed it as I thought it looked painful! I am now intrigued as you say you are comfortable doing it like this :) I am interested to know - when it comes to the more 'attention to detail' parts like cuticle work and painting, do you find yourself nearly folded in half? Or can you do it comfortably sitting up straight? I may have to reconsider after all!

I've just been and measured. I have the rest quite low. A flat foot for cuticle work and painting would be around 19" from my face, closer if the leg is on the rest. However, I am pretty short (only 5 foot). You can adjust the height of the rest if you are taller, but of course that would be a higher leg lift for your client.

I am able to slide my spa underneath the rest. This is all pretty difficult to explain. Perhaps I will get my hubby to take some action photos and I will upload them tomorrow night.

By the way my salon theme is lilac and these stools come in white only. I bought a bottle of £5 leather dye on Ebay and it came up a treat! It was a bit scarey doing it though

I have this but from eBay about half the price! Does the job xx

That's really helpful as I am around the same size as you. Some action pics would be great though. :)

Thanks JuicyLucy that's really helpful! Especially as I am the same height as you too!! Hmmm I'm really considering this now... some pics would be amazing - but no pressure!! Only if you have time :D I suppose it does make quite a big difference that the leg rest is height adjustable.

*Just had a thought! When/if doing Shellac or something similar involving the use of a lamp - do you place on the floor or on the foot rest?

As you can see, I sit quite far forward and kind of grip the rest with my knees as it is moveable. The seat and the rest are as close together as you can get them (because I'm short) but you could move them further apart. The height of the rest is adjustable.

I have put the spa underneath so you can see where it sits. Obviously I move it before I use the lamp!

I hope this helps.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for doing those, I now feel confident that I should get one.

I have this stool and I love it. At my salon I have a comfy over stuffed chair sitting on a platform that is about a foot high. I had a friend build the platform with a step so its easy for the client to get in and out. I find this to be much more comfortable for my clients with stiff knees as some cant raise their leg hiyh enough to place it on the rest. But when they are already higher up its much better. I also feel like its more comfortable for the client to have their foot rest on the stool rather than my lap because they worry about hurting me and try to support their weight themselves. I have tried lots of different set ups and this one works best for me.

Thank you JuicyLucy! Those pics are very helpful. Actually the stool is MUCH bigger than I imagined. It looks so tiny on the website! Anyway thank you for clearing that up! They should be paying you comission

Well, it's here! I've not unpacked it properly yet and will probably leave that until tomorrow as I'm bushed.

After seeing those photos of it though, I'm really excited that I have something that I can work with.

Juicy thank you from me too. This stool is on my to buy list. I too bend down almost double!

Just thought I would let you geeks know that I have found this stool at salonserve for £49 :) xx

I got mine for the same price roughly, once the 10% discount was put on from SalonsDirect for liking their facebook page. If you order £60 worth you also get free next day delivery.

I've put it all together, now to test it out......husband, where are you?!
