Hi geeks, I'm from the perming era but havnt done any recently, but I had a client in today who has fine shoulder length hair with tint and bleach with (4%). She wants body and root lift without curl and good conditioned hair. My question is which perming solution would you recommend and are there any large enough perm rods available. Thanks in advance. Xxx:|

Use the matrix perm for coloured hair depending on the length u want grey maybe black... Or u could recommend a gel perm gives body n sometimes u can get a curl out of it but only lasts 6 weeks xxx

I'l try matrix, thanx for replying. X

I'd have said gel too and put it on large setting rollers xoxo

Clynol one. It gives a really soft curl but only lasts around 6 weeks, called clynol root perm gel, put a big blob on your hands and put through the hair first then roll up quickly, great if doing roller perms as its quicker than rods to put in xoxo

Jumping on the band wagon here, but I've never used a semi perm do you still neutralize it like a regular perm?
Does it smell as bad as normal ones?

It depends what kind of curl they want, if just for body the largest that fits with a single curl in it, long hair I'd use setting rollers.
Yes still neutralise, the budget neutraliser at the warehouse works fine. No it dosent smell much, although I do love the smell of a good perm working, only downside is its slippy on the hands, but that's because I put it in the hair first then put the rods in so I know it's all coated for longer hair wanting a light curl too. About 2 mins of a bloody good rinse should do it, put on the neutraliser, let it soak in for a couple of mins (depending on length and thickness on the rod/ roller) take all rollers out, and I put a little more on for good measure, but dunno if it's nessasary, just preference, rinse, condition with anti oxy or ur alternate and done, still the same aftercare of 4/5 days of no washing, and colour 2 weeks after xoxo

Tomme, how much would u charge for shoulder length hair to b permed? X

Full head from £45 depending on thickness and if just the top section on super sized rollers for just a bit of lift £25 but I don't include cuts xoxo
