I know they're completely out of fashion..flashback to the 80's..blah blah blahhh but I was just wondering if your salon still does perms (you'd be surprised how many have stopped!) and how much they charge? My local salon charges £80 for long hair and they see long hair as coming just above your shoulders, shorter than that £50 and forte little old ladies who've been comin for donkeys years it's about £30:) am I right to think this is extremely overpriced?!

I charge 80 quid for a bog standard perm on short hair. Mind you I'm very good at them, and there ain't too many hairdressers around who are.

i dont perm but i know my nan pays about £30-35 for her perm and cut :)

We charge £45 for perm including cut and blowdry (or shampoo and set). Usually only really have short hair clients requesting perms.

Your seeing the cost to the client, not the cost to the salon, perms have a very little profit margin When youve added on your electric, water, products let alone time and wages!!

Think of how many cut and blows or wet cuts you cud do in that time!! That's why the cost is so high!

I perm (not very often although im doing 2 next week) and i know i should charge more.... i charge short hair inc cbd £40 top £35 oap short hair £35 :-(
I have to say id love perms to make a massive comeback as i love winding them...i also know many younger hairdressers who have not been taught to perm so there wil be a few of us very busy if they do make a massive comeback hahaha

I was shocked that Perming is now an optional unit (vtct) it was compulsory when I initially trained years ago! But as said above there will be a few of us who will be very busy should it become fashionable again. My biggest concern is those who didn't train in Perming 'having a go' you've got to know what you're doing and the chemical process behind it, just think of the things that could go wrong!! :-/

It takes me about 45 mins cut cut and wrap a short hair perm, then 30 mins to blow dry. I charge £60. For long hair eg spiral winds I charge around £120. Have no qualms charging this, its my time they are paying for so if it takes me longer, i charge more.
Plus, as Persianista said, there arent many good permers around anymore so people are happy to pay for a good perm
xxx

I charge between £35 - £45 for perm depending on length.

I love perming! Seem to do more now. Both long and short hair.

I can't see them coming back to the level of popularity they had in the 80's. Just my opinon

My prices start at £35, this is because of my lack of experience, that's for just the lift not a full curl, a full wind starts at £45 ad that would be short hair, I don't advertise a max, but I wouldn't charge more than £150. Xoxo
