Hello,

So I have been practising my uv gel french manicure.

My friend has asked if I will do hers tonight.

I can see that all nails are NOT completely smooth, once i've finished is it possible for me to file over all nails then go over them with a top coat to get the shine back?

Or should I avoid filing over gel altogether?

Are we talking structure gel not gel polish?

If yes, then of course you can buff over, most gels these days are self levelling, but that doesn't mean they are competely level, they can travel slightly when curing, or pool in the cuticles if clients hold their fingers up in the air before curing, etc.

Perfectly acceptable to smooth over and correct any misshapen side walls etc. before top coating

If it's Gel Polish then no, you need to check application techniques if you are getting bumpy Gel Polish finish. It's far too thin for buffing without potentially damaging the natural nail.

Great thank you for your help!

Yes sorry I am meant Structure gel, I have done two sets so far but they have started lifting around the cuticle area, I think its because the gel leaked onto the skin and its flaked away.

I get confused with what order I should do the nails, e.g. do two nails then flash cure? Then thumbs at the end, when i did my first set I never did this and the thumbs were overflowing onto the skin.

I started with this product when I had completed my training and honestly it completely battered my confidence.
The academy I trained with used Cuccio products and I left feeling like I could do this. Until I bought this gel to practice with.
It is so runny and hard to control and even flash curing didn't help me because just going straight into the lamp it would run (even with thin layers).

I then went back to Cuccio and now use all of their products and don't find I have any of the issues I had before. Admittedly, I have been doing them longer now so with a lot more practice but as soon as I started using a better quality product my confidence came straight back.

Also, remember cuticle work is super important to stop lifting. My curette is now my favourite tool and I get very little lifting at infill appointments if any. [emoji106]

Not sure if that's any help but that's my experience [emoji5]️
