We should all stop moaning about aches and pains and think how lucky we are.

What we should do is not ignore medical advice about having regular smears. I'm given to understand that she did just this and is now, sadly, paying the ultimate price.
I hear on the wireless this morning that since her diagnosis there has been quite a rise in the smear rate, which can only be a good thing.

However uncomfortable and possibly undignified smears etc might be, it's imperative to have them regularly, and to not ignore the findings of them.

The thought of leaving her boy's must be killing her more than the cancer itself,it's a horrible situation x

I agree :!: I'm ashamed to say,my first ever smear is booked already, even if it is three months down the line

We also watched Jade's progress on Sky last night.. filmed at Christmas so she was still under the impression she was going to beat the cancer and get well. It was heart breaking knowing that she won't be able to do. Her follow up programme 'The Next Chapter' is on Thursday night.

My daughter who is 24 now asked me this morning when are you supposed to start having smears... I said I would say from the age of being sexually active.... is this right or does anyone know for definite? I have put off my reminders for the last couple of months.. but its booked in now :(

I dont think they are offered until later (BUT I may well be wrong). I watched 'This Morning' one morning recently and they were saying that the problem usually in younger women is they are not offered routine screening. They advised if a young woman, below the age of routine tests, has a worry to make an appointment.

I went for mine a week past Monday as I'd forgotten about the letter sent to me. My last one before that was just slighly over 2 years ago. As I'd been away in Norway the nurse said she had me showing as not tested since 1997 when in fact in Oslo if I went with any niggly tummy pain or an upset tum they did a smear test and pelvic exam as well as when I found out I was pregnant and a few months after having Noah. It averaged out at about 1 every year at least. When the nurse realised I'd had one done two years ago she said 'oh ok, well you only get called every 2 years here anyway so thats about right then'.

The other problem is the amount of differing advice. I said I was paranoid about it and mentioned Jade and it was this nurse who told me to be fair, Jade had a long history of abnormal results and treatment and had been so scared she ignored the last result for a year. Not exactly average history as she was very at risk already. What she did say though was that as I had had 4 pregnancies and only 2 partners I was actually much less at risk yet the doctor on 'This Morning' said more pregnancies increases your risk. Women would be helped by having one clear concise set of advice?

To Jade I send my heart felt hopes of a miracle, she's so young and has worked hard to make a better life once she was given the chance by being on BB. So unfair.

I'm very lucky to have an excellent GP who when you go in for a visit used to check when your last smear was and book you in there and then if you're due one.
I also get sent letters to ask me to book in when they're due.

I managed to wriggle out of it for quite a few years purely because I didn't fancy the idea of someone poking around down there, but after I had kids it wasn't such a huge issue for me.
...So I can understand why women feel uncomfortable about the idea of it but I would urge any woman due one to go.
It takes less then 5 minutes and isn't painful and is handled in a very sensitive/discreet manner.

I also watched Jades show the other night from xmas and I was really upset when she was saying how she would beat it. Just makes you realise that you have no idea what life has in store for you. xxx

i have booked mine, last one 8 years ago, this has made me think hard !

the pictures in ok magazine are so sad but beatufull x

I have to say Ive never liked her but now I feel v sad for her and the kids.
I too booked my smear test for next week.

I don't usually buy OK! mag but I have done this week..I think she made a beautiful bride and was extremely brave to walk down the aisle without her hair.
She has proved to be one very brave and beautiful lady and throughout all her ups and downs she has done herself and her family proud.
She is in my thoughts and prayers x

My thoughts are with her and her 2 little boys. What a shame! She is so young and still has so much to live for.
I guess it makes you realise that everyday is precious and we should stop moaning about silly stuff and live life to the full. You never know whats around the corner!

It is awful for her and her family. I haven't seen OK magazine yet, but will get it tomorrow.

My thoughts and prayers are with her too.

I cant get OK .... everywhere is completely sold out!!!!!!

poor jade i feel so sorry for her and her little boys its just so sad and it really hits home that it can happen to anyone even as young as 27, it is really important to get regular smear tests..

I just hope and pray that her last days / months are spend with her children and husband doing the things that make her happy.

27 is SO young. I hope it gives a message to everyone to have regular smear tests, as it can save your live.

God bless her, and hope that her days are longer than expected

I think its so sad, for her and anyone else in a similar position
I truly hope she makes it too....
She has such a upbeat personality and you can see her kids mean the whole world to her, she never lost her roots through fame......She has made mistakes but jesus, most of us have,
I like her and have a friend that reminds me of her and always has since bb days.... They drive you nuts, but life wouldnt be the same without them.....

Thinking of you and your family Jade  xxx

Everytime I see her face I want to smack myself for not going to the doctor,
I had to have laser treatment years ago to get rid of pre cancerous cells, I went back for check ups twice after that and havent been since

I really need to go don't I ?
