In my neck of the woods (Quebec, Canada); Square is the way to go. It's the trend.
Oval or pointy is usually only seen on VERY VERY VERY mature women...(didn't want to say 'old' :lol
While part of me agrees that oval 'seems' more natural on one hand... the nails don't naturally taper themselves oval, so I personally would NOT say it's a more natural look.
You can file natural nails into any shape you like. Square, almond or stilletoe. So, in my opinion,
neither is more natural than the other.
I do think that oval, on the RIGHT hands, and in the right length is very attractive. I also think that short fingers with short oval nails look dreadful and than they do tend to look like buttons when they are 'short' or 'active' length.
On my own, I tend to wear them very square or squoval. I've tried oval on me, drove me mad and hated them. Dont know why. Just did.
Here are mine.
(Mine in this one, are the mocha/brown leopard)
These are NATURAL nails of a friend
So, like I said.
I do not think that 'square' screams 'fake'.
Since, those are NATURAL nails with NO overlay.
And they are 100% REAL.
