Just adding my two cents worth here too!!! Do not tar all the wholesalers with the same brush!!!!!

I run a nail & beauty wholesalers and i do not let the general public in, my customers have to provide proof of training even to buy a wipe!!!!!!!

I have ordered from some of the big companies in the past and they have never asked for any ID or proof of training?

You can buy kits from large stores over here and also other wholsalers will sell to the general public..............we dont!!!!!!!

Amanda

and that's why we love you!!!

Hi there Ms Matrix - I would like to clarify a few things I have read here and hopefully make what happens in the UK crystal clear for you!

In the US, nearly all wholesalers are owned by two huge corporations (seriously nearly all) and these wholesales stock ALL nail supplies from different companies (some may not stock everything but that is the rule of thumb)!
In the UK, we have local wholesalers in nearly all towns like Sally's and some nail companies have chosen to supply them with product so ANYONE can buy without certificate... yes Jo Public can walk in and buy! (in the states I always thought you had to show your liscence)!

Then we have the distributors for the US Nail companies - these distributors make a deal with the US companies and take on a system and supply the products for that system and the training for that system. Despite what has been said on this thread, Creative are THE ONLY company that doesn't sell the professional products to the non-certified technician. Moorediane also said that you could however buy enamel, etc but 'not sure what proof you need - if any' to purchase! We require certificate and business card to prove that they are in the industry and they becoma a secondary account until they do the necessary training in L+P.

Our company is called Designer Nails UK Ltd and we distribute Creative, INM, Sudo, Fabric# plus many other ancillary items. Garfton Int distributes Odessey, IBD, plus many other beauty products. That's how it works here... we are the wholesalers for our particular line and we have exclusivity for it.

There are only 3 nail companies that have been around since the mid eighties in the UK and that is Backscratchers, OPI and Creative Nail Design... we were then, and still are now, the only company that does not sell without education. Hope this helps and if you want to find out where to buy CND in Detroit... call 1 800 CND NAIL!!

See itold you someone could explain it better than me!!

Okay...bear with me, because sometimes I do have my "learning disabled" days.:smack: Let me see if I got everything straight: You can buy other L&P products without showing proof of training such as Tammy Taylor, Kiss, Nailene, & Supernail, but you can not walk in off the street and buy Creative, EZ Flow, Brisa or Fabric?

Seems like we're probably neck and neck then, and that's all I was wondering was if things here as far as that was the same there...wasn't trying to take shots at anyone or anything...it was just good old fashion curiousity. Now I feel I have a better understanding...I told you I have those "learning disabled" days

yes IF they are availble in Sally's etc other wise you would have to buy them from the distributor in the UK and certainly with products you have mentioned... you can purchase direct!

but you can not walk in off the street and buy Creative, EZ Flow, Brisa or Fabric?
well, Brisa is Creative and Fabric# is distributed by Designer Nails... infact Geeg created Fabric#; so if someone walked in off the street into a One Stop Nail Shop (Creative distrib wholesale store) they would need their Designer Nails ID or business card or cert in order to buy anything BUT THEY COULD NOT purchase the 'pro' products until physically doing the education. If I am correct and I seem to remember Antony saying this in a previous post.. providing you can show proof of cert... you can buy the pro products without having to train!

Hope this helps sexy prego mama!!!

OOOOOOHHHH, I see...:)

Didn't know Geeg created Fabric...COOL!!!

:o You make me blush with the sexy prego comment!
