Hi, just to let everyone know, i'm new here & training to be a beautician not a hairdresser, although i have done a year of hairdressing at college as well. However I have a full head of majicontrast red (bad, i know) and i want to remove it. I am aware i will probably need to visit a salon for this (colour b4 probably won't work) however i was just wondering if anyone could advise me on the process salons use for colour removal, what kind of condition my hair needs to be in to have it done, and if it will be sucessful. I have about a years worth of build up, and it is not dyed over virgin hair. Any advice appreciated :)

The salon will need to strip the colour using a stripper of pre lightener they will prob do a colour test to check result and condition. You will need to invest in aftercare to improve the strength of the hair. The cost may be expensive. Xx

Thank you for your reply! Yeah i was definitely expecting it to be expensive, but i'm willing to pay good money for it to be done properly :) Thanks for the advice xx

Just out of curiosity, why do u say it's bad that u have a full colour of majired?

I am red with majirel and i love it! and it's all shinny and soft! after months of colouring!

To get rid of it I would say...don't colour it for a while, wash it loads until it fades and then let the magicians work their powers :).

Be prepared to having to cut it shorther though....

Majicontrast red shouldn't be applied globally check your manufacturers instructions

Oh no! I have really long hair & I don't want it too short!! Prepared to have some cut off though :) Thanks for the advice, it does look really lush on, but in the instructions it says you shouldn't apply to full head, not 100% sure why as i've heard many different theories as to why you shouldn't. xx

Right, i need a good reason for this. Does anybody have an explanation? The thing is that I'm training and I keep trying to find information from different sources and to know as much as possible and pursue my carreer as a hairdresser. But when I go back to the salon and I tell them about things that I've heard or read, they will say they are non-sense. Believe it or not, but the seniors where I work had no clue about the fact that mfi say that you shouldn't apply it on full head. If i'll go there and tell them that, they'll laugh at me! ' where did u hear that?? you keep coming with all sorts of things you've found on the internet'. And then again, i am the 'trainee' who will probably 'mess up your hair', funny how this works.
